I'll be brand new,
Brand new tomorrow.
A little bit tired,
But brand new.
She laid out on the berth, stretched out as much as possible and completely still while Crossfire's systems cooperated with the changes that were being made. Pain sensors shut themselves off and she became numb to the world around her while her energy levels dipped slightly. She had insisted on staying online and alert to what Starscream was doing while he upgraded her systems and frame. Heedlessly, armor platings clicked and whirred out of and into place as modifications in connection to the upgrade were made.
Starcream had found her wandering Autobot City like a restless turbofox, a sense of feral aggression emanating off her frame in an unsettling way. She had been in a fight with Sideswipe's counterpart, though she refused to say anything more, and had almost completely recovered from the attempted deactivation the silver mech tried to do to her. But what made it more unusual was how Crossfire had changed in personality from being a passive and inverted femme, to taking control of herself and beginning to be more extroverted. Starscream hoped that this change wouldn't lead to her being even more reckless than before.
"All done." Starscream said after the final calibrations were made to the red femme's systems. He inwardly felt that the weapons she chose to include in the upgrade were a little excessive. She had asked for an electron cannon, an ion cannon and an EMP generator, things that she said Ironhide suggested to her long ago when she was a smaller Sparkling. "You'll need to be careful while your systems adjust to the changes and stabilize."
"I understand." Crossfire said as she swung her legs over the edge of the berth before moving to stand on her new legs. Stabilizers whirred and beeped softly as they adjusted to her weight changes while she held onto the berth to reorient her systems. "I'll be more careful, but if there's gonna be another battle, I'm gonna be in it."
He was afraid of that. A sigh wound its way out of Starscream's vents as he placed his tools on the nearby table before placing a hand on Crossfire's shoulder. He felt uneasy with empowering Crossfire with the means to fight but knew he couldn't control her any more than he could control his son, Crystal.
With a sigh he watched her leave his quarters/laboratory to join the other Autobots.
