He stood there before the grave-markers of the fallen Autobots that the humans permitted them to place at the end of the runway in the base of Diego Garcia. Even though her remains weren't there, Optimus insisted that they placed one for Elita-1. He needed the reminder that his bondmate was still waiting for him in the Matrix, no matter how painful it was that he had not been there to ensure her safety.
Chromia, Arcee and Flareup had been the ones to bring the bad news of their commander's deactivation. It had pained them all to learn of the loss, but none moreso than Optimus, who regretted not spending enough time with Elita-1. Ironhide couldn't find the words to comfort his leader, but just giving him space and time was what the Weapons Specialist did to show respect
"I sorely miss you, Elita-1." The Autobots leader said softly into the twilight air. "My work here is not done yet, but when it is, I pray to Primus that I will be reunited with you."
As though in response, a warm air swirled around him with the outline of Elita-1 hugging the large mech.
