The Chronicles of Amber

Like Manfred, I felt a desire to post and say that I'm not going anywhere.  I'm really enjoying the RP on Chronicles, and I appreciate the style of GMing that the wizards have chosen for the MUSH.  It isn't for everyone, and that's okay because no game will please everyone.  I like it, and I like them.  I'm very much looking forward to seeing how the plotlines all unfold, and to lots more RP with everyone there.  :-)

I'm rather bewildered with what is going on, but since Henry has apparently left the game without letting me know there isn't much reason for Genie to remain.

I guess y'all can assume she's off in Shadow giving Henry more headaches.

I personally plan to stick around Chronicles of Amber, as I think it is a fun place and well-run. I've enjoyed plenty of fun RP with plenty of people, and I'm sure that will continue for the foreseeable future. I appreciate that the staff gets involved in running interesting plots, and that they are always interested in keeping up the quality of the MUSH through code, fair administration, and clarity of theme.

Special thanks to all the people I've had fun playing with in this guise and in others. I'm looking forward to RPing with you again, as well as whomever else I am lucky enough to encounter and play with. Maybe even tomorrow! If my work schedule and home life allow.

I don't have any regrets; I'm too busy having a good time.

It was just recently that I thought I had found a sane place to resume mushing after a substantial absence from the genre.  Several of the individuals I have come to respect over the years enticed me to join a plotline and playgroup that I found compelling and creative. 

Due to various personal loyalties, I am forthwith signing off permanently. 

As with Vivienne (to whom I owe OOC thanks for some truly wonderful scenes), Taliesin simply does not return. As established previously, he had gathered an army in Shadow, but was uncertain to where he had left it but had left to find it again, regardless of warnings from others regarding his inexperience with shadow and need for assistance. 

To the players still on Chronicles with whom I had the privilege of scening, fair winds and following seas.

The time has come for me to move on. I'd like to thank you all for many fond memories, and thank Fortuna and Todd for giving me the opportunity to play Gerard and Bayle.

I'm not a big fan of Drama(tm), so I'll keep this short. Yes, I'm leaving because Random and Merlin left. I've had the privilege of knowing and playing with both their players over the years, both online and face-to-face, and have nothing but respect and awe for their skills. Any MUSH where they are either not welcome, or don't feel comfortable, is one where I'm not comfortable being. Random's farewell post describes the situation far better than I can - suffice to say that I agree with the positions described therein.

Gaming should be fun. Once it stops being fun, it's time to let it go and move on. Life it too short for anything else.

In case it's not completely clear, I am also quitting Henry. He's going off into Shadow to get drunk for the next few years. I'd like to thank Eleanor and Eugenia for being the best pains in my arse I could have hoped for. :-) Between them and Owen I never lacked for amusement or heartburn.

I fully expect to be playing on Random's new game when it launches. Maybe I'll see some of you there.

My good-bye post on the Chronicles bboards was removed, so I am re-posting it here instead.

I would like to say that in my tenure playing Random (and previously, Vialle), I have really deeply enjoyed playing with all of you, and I hope to see you all around elsewhere in the future.

If it wasn't clear, I am also leaving the game. (I just tried to log in my alts to decompile, and discovered I've been newpassworded, so it does not appear that I have a choice in the matter. I had already decided to leave once I did some cleanup, but the newpasswords come as a shock.)

I have had a great time on Chronicles as both Sand and Eleanor and am sorry to be leaving.

Though I am an admirer of the wizards and players of Chronicles I feel like if I stayed I'd be supporting the idea that it is OK for wizards to behave unethically. And I don't think that's ever OK. It would feel like supporting the idea of prejudice was OK, even though that prejudice wasn't applied to me.

As I was not to given an opportunity to say goodbye, I'll take a moment to do so here.

Thank you all. I had a very enjoyable tenure as Merlin, and I regret that the abrupt termination of my account did not give me the opportunity to wrap up all of the threads I had outstanding. For those who I cannot provide closure, you have my sincerest apologies.

Sadly, it seems I will not be able to continue play in my alt either, so that said I wish you all the best. Good luck, and good gaming.
