My notes: Either the author did amazing research or she works in the medical field. The story opens in the chaotic setting of a long term care facility for the sick and disabled. Kagome works there as a nurse after the final battle with Naraku closed the Well forever.

Then one day a very familiar figure is rolled in as a patient, and from then on Kagome's life is never the same. She ends up taking Sesshoumaru home to nurse him there, and it's in her home that he slowly regains consciousness. We soon see this isn't the same Sesshoumaru from centuries ago. I mean, he IS, but the author makes it obvious that he went through absolute hell. He's suffering from physical issues as well as post traumatic stress disorder, yet he is STILL recognizable between episodes of being triggered.

This fic also has another first that I have never seen anywhere...

In order to survive, Sesshoumaru undergoes surgery. The scene is a highly symbolic one that I won't spoil, but it brought a few tears to my eyes.

I have never seen a fic like this. The last two chapters put you through the emotional ringer.

My mind has been completely blown. This fic pushed all the buttons I like pushed when I read, and I feel like it should become as legendary as Resmiranda's "Tales From the House of the Moon."
