Buffy, with Willow not far behind her, walked into the Sunnydale High School Library. The first time she had walked in, Giles had scared her. She looked around, but didn't see him.
"Giles, you around?" Buffy called out. Although not many students went into this library, she still needed to make sure that no one was there.
"Chill, he'll be back. He said something about a book." came a voice. Buffy looked up and saw Cordelia on the upper landing with a book in her hand.
"What are you doing here?" Buffy said, her nose scrounged up as she tried to figure out why an air head like Cordelia was doing in the library.
"Duh. It's a library, I need a book. It's the only reason I would step foot in Loserville." came Cordelia's answer. She walked down the stairs and out the door. Buffy gave an unladylike snort. She felt like she needed to wash her hand, or more like wrap them around Cordelia's neck.

cranky

Just like every other day, the sun shone down with idyllic warmth on the palm trees outside of Sunnydale High School.
Inside, Willow was feeling a little less idyllic.
"They won't let us write a paper about them instead?" She looked a little nauseous. Her cafeteria lunch- an unappetizing mixture of mystery meat and yellowed peas- remained untouched.
Xander patted her on the shoulder in what he hoped was a reassuring way. "They die all the time, Will. It's part of the great cycle of life-"
Willow shook her head, her reddish-orange hair swinging back and forth hurriedly.
"It's not that. I mean, yes, it's pretty inhumane I guess, but it's just they're so..." She wrinkled up her face looking for a word. "Scaly? Slimy? And they look at you with those beady eyes, like they're just waiting for an opportunity to-"
"New kind of demon?" Buffy asked cheerfully, coming up behind them with a fully laden lunch tray.
"Worse." Willow looked up at Buffy, an ill look on her face.
Buffy frowned at Willow. What could be worse than a scaly, slimy, beady eyed demon, after all?
Xander spoke up. "All of us have to dissect frogs for Mrs. Saberhagen's Biology class."

Underground, the only sound was water dripped from the ceiling onto the cave floor. Most of the Order of Aurelius slept during the day. As the sun had risen a few hours ago, they were sleeping, literally, the sleep of the dead. Candles illuminated their motionless forms. One particularly foolhardy rat scampered over Darla's ankle.
The Master's eyes flew wide open. A look of confusion, then amusement, deepened the creases on his demonic face. "Another," he breathed nearly soundlessly. "Another." His laughter woke Luke, who was the closest to the Master in raw power.
"Master?"
"The wayward child returns to us at last, Luke. Is it not written that upon the fourth generation, the child shall find his way home where his parents did not, and his coming will presage that of the Anointed One?"
A slow smile spread across Luke's features, and he nodded.
"All is unfolding according to plan, Luke. We must not be remiss in hospitality to our new guest. Choose an appropriate gift for him. I'm sure you can convince him to return to the fold."
Luke's muscular body unfolded to stand and carry out the Master's orders. "It shall be as you desire, Master."

Scene : A dark place...probably underground
Spike sits quietly watching Drusilla sleeping. She mumbles from time to time unintelligibly. Its obvious her sleep is not fitfull. Spike shakes his head. Perhaps here he can find the answer to his loves illness. Here in the hellmouth where the veil between the material world and the underworld is so thin.
There are demons about a plenty here, but there are also other things. Things that prefer to remain unseen, unknown. Patience is not something Spike is used to, but here in this place. Perhaps, if he keeps his ear to the ground, an opportunity will present itself.
"Buggger this"
Drusilla stirs. Her eyes open. Hungry somewhat vacant eyes.
Spike moves quickly to her bedside. "Its alright my pet. I'll make everything better." Drucilla reaches for his face "I'm hungry daddy. Baby needs something to eat." "Don't worry baby, I'll bring you something sweet & tasty."
Spike settles Drusilla in bed, and then turns towards a shadowy opening in the far wall.
Yes this place will do well. " Now lets see whats on the menu tonight. "

Scene: Buffy’s room
Day: Monday morning, 6am
Buffy tossed and turned in her bed, dreaming. She was dreaming of screaming, laughter, and the one Vampire that got away, The Master. Always just out of reach, she could never kill him.
She was woken up suddenly when she heard someone shouting her name.
“Buffy, time to get up!” came the calling from downstairs.
“I’m up!” she yelled back to her mother and throw off the warm covers. Although she would just love to sleep in, her mother would have a problem with that. She quickly made her way to the bathroom and turned on the shower. Making sure it was hot, she got undressed and stepped in. For a minute, she let the water run over her head and down her body. Grabbing the soap, she tried to wash away what she couldn’t see. Vamp dust.
After a while in the shower, she dried off and got ready for school. Running down the stairs, she met up with her mother in the kitchen. Buffy grabbed a peace of toast and started to eat.
“What happened to your alarm clock?” her mother asked, shooting a look at her.
“Broken. I may have knocked it off one night.” Buffy said, not returning the look. What she failed to tell her was the fact that Buffy had thrown it on the floor after a frustrating night and never told her mother about it.
“Have your homework done?” her mother asked her, watching. Of course, Buffy didn’t have any of her homework done. She had been too busy with…other things.
“Yeah, no sweat.” Buffy said, smiling at her mom. She just hoped that Willow would help her out.
The rest of the morning went well, until her mother drove her to school.
Scene: School, 7:30am
When the car pulled along side the school, Joyce held onto Buffy’s hand.
“Is everything alright?” she asked, concern written on her face.
Buffy looked at her mom for a moment and then smiled. “Yeah, Mom. Everything is alright.” She said. Buffy opened the car door and got out. She watched as her mom drove away, worried. She wondered just how long she could keep this a secret from her mom.
Turning towards the school, she saw Willow walking her way. “Just the person I wanted to see!” she called out to her. When they met up, she smiled. “I kinda need some help.” Buffy started.
