I totally forgot about this until I was meeting with my prof about my writing portfolio yesterday. Well, we've got all of a handful of sign-ups but hey, I'm game if you are! Actually my DZ fic is something I'm going to be working my ass off on for my Creative Writing major capstone, amazingly.
So, just checking in to see that people are still interested. Spread the news around, still, because people could sign up late if they want.

For this round writers will sign up for genre challenges. Writers are not required to pick one specific movie this time around, this is all about genre characteristics (and clichés). The stories written can be anything from serious to ridiculous, using clichés of a genre does not mean the story must be a parody. Feel free to refresh an old plot element! Add a new twist!
While claims this round are not for specific films/books/etc., writers are certainly allowed to follow plots of such as was done in the last wave.

Title: Soul Heirs Author: shimere277 Rating: PG-13 Fandom/Claim: Drake’s Venture/Solaris Pairings: Thomas/Francis; Elizabeth/Leicester Summary: Stellar explorer Frank Drake receives a message from his old friend Walter Devereux, summoning him to the mysterious Solaris. Note: The general story and many of the plot twists follow Soderberg’s version of Solaris pretty closely, so if you haven’t seen the movie, you will be spoiled. I have left out a few of the major plot points - for example, Kelvin’s reaction to the first Rhea is unnecessary given Drake’s prior relationship to Doughtie; I’ve omitted Gibarian’s son entirely as a symbol unnecessary and difficult to convey without the use of visuals. The relationship between the characters is obviously different, the most obvious example being that the relationship between Gordon and Snow is nothing like the relationship between Tudor and Dudley. And the ending – well, that’s the way the movie ends. There are no answers – only choices.

Note: I have lifted five of Roger's lines from various books and given them to Vila (Roger's similarity to a young Vila was what inspired me), but the rest is mine.

For those not acquainted with the minutiae of MfU canon, Harry Beldon is the extravagant, exuberant, wildly eccentric head of UNCLE's Berlin HQ, with whom Illya has worked in the past, and who turns out to be a traitor.

* Title- Avonhawke * Author- entropy_house * Rating -Two men are substituted for a man/woman romantic couple, but it's about at the same level of non-sex as the movie- PG, I think. * Fandom/claim Characters from the Blakes 7 universe take over roles in the movie Ladyhawke * Pairings - Blake/Avon (although there is no nookie) * Summary - ReaLife kept me from doing anything clever (didn't get to START until Dec. 22), so basically I rewrote Ladyhawke. If you haven't seen the movie, this will spoiler you for nearly every scene. As a large part of the movie's charm for me lay in slowly figuring out what was happening, I won't give you a proper summary.
Ladyhawke is a fantasy involving a heroic knight who rebels and his lover who has no choice but to follow him, but who would follow anyway (they are kept close but unable to consummate their love), a good-natured thief, a failed priest who seems to have special insight, a wicked and insane despotic ruler who desires the hero's lover, and the despot's savage knight minion.
Blake's 7 is a science fiction series involving a heroic high-class citizen who rebels and his unofficial second in command who has no choice but to follow him, but who would follow anyway (albeit complaining the whole time) (they are kept close but unable to consummate their love due to TV at the time- it was fairly obvious to fans that they were infatuated with each other), a good-natured thief, a failed telepath who comes up with a lot of semi-religious platitudes, a wicked and insane despotic ruler who desires the hero's lover, and the despot's savage high-class citizen minion. (There are a few other main characters, but I dispensed with most of them except for Zen, the computer that runs Blake's spaceship. Zen becomes the knight's horse, Goliath.)
