I'm Here!
Sorry about the lateness. Weekends are crammed full of working for me for the moment.
Well, since everyone else started with their childhoods, I suppose I'll begin there as well. I had a tumultuous childhood for reasons completely unrelated to religion, and my experiences combined with my temperament and genetics left me with a severe anxiety disorder. That may be why I took a strong interest in religion from a very young age. The first book I read as a child was Edith Hamilton's Mythology, and like many Pagans-to-be I performed little proto-rituals in my backyard before I even really knew what they were.
I wasn't really raised in a religion. My parents are nominal Christians and belong to the United Church of Christ, but they didn't really go very much until I insisted, at about 8 years old. I wasn't baptized until I was 11, again at my insistence. Then I went to Catholic school for 10 years (half of middle school, high school, and college) which was a very positive experience for me. I discovered Wicca when I was 13 and went back and forth between than and Catholicism before firmly becoming Pagan in my Senior year of high school. I've been Pagan ever since, and in addition I joined the Unitarian Universalist church (in which I hope to become a minister) about 3 years ago. At the moment I am working my way through the Dedicant program of the ADF Druid organization.
I've been Pagan for about 12 years now. I just moved to Virginia from Buffalo, NY with my husband and our 2 1/2 year-old daughter Eowyn. I hate it here so far. *grin* I work in retail, with a schedule that unfortunately forces me to work pretty much all weekend, so I don't get to do too many social things, but I'm applying for another position tomorrow at the same store that I hope will change that a bit. Wish me luck!
I realize that's a bit of a short summary compared to everyone else's, but I'm not sure what else to say. Please feel free to ask me any questions!
