We (AEPi) won 2nd place Booth and Chairman's Choice Buggy trophies. Our buggy came in 11th place on Friday and just narrowly missed rolling in the finals on Saturday (the top 10 make it). Still, an impressive showing for a house that now has around 50 active brothers!
Our booth was also awesome.
3rd place, Sig Ep with "The Goonies" (great booth both Sparky and I thought they could have won first place, but their game never worked)
2nd place, wAll-E-Pi (great exterior, semi-working game, some good detail inside, but also a lot of blank interior walls...as usual!) The light-up eyes at nighttime was amazing.
1st place, KDR with "Journey To The Center Of The Earth" (immaculate detail, game was underwhelming, also the drill was constantly spinning and extended into the booth interior)

Sadly, most pledges don't do all of their interviews. We are planning to revamp the interview program for the next pledge program to fix this.

the new house
so, for any other alumni who still check this thing...
i saw the new house this past weekend. i was in the 'burgh for my cousin's wedding, and i had some free time on sunday so i swung by for an hour. a few of the new guys (who seemed super-cool) showed me around.
it's really pretty awesome. the downstairs is somewhat similar, but the kitchen has gotten a nice revamp so that the pantry is now actually part of the kitchen. they did take out one of the kitchen entrances so i imagine that's a serious pain during dinner time, but there's new appliances and stuff so i bet bob likes it. there's new nice leather sofas and a gigantic TV. the kosher kitchen is no longer only accessible via the office, and seems to have much nicer new appliances.
the upstairs floors are much nicer. they redid the room layouts though in a weird way. basically, there's now 4 rooms down the long hallway where there used to be 3, and they're all doubles (8 people there). the loser hallway is basically the same (4 people). and then the bathroom side of the big hallway now has 2 rooms, 1 gigantic double and 1 single (3 people). so we still fit 30 people in the house, but there's basically 1 "superprime double" now and the rest of the doubles are about the same size, and then the room across from the stairs is now a single. the washer/dryers are now on the second and third floors, where the janitor's closet area was/is. the hallway walls are similar with the whiteboards, but its now actually nice, professionally hung whiteboard as opposed to the semi-ghetto job that we did. and the upstairs bathrooms are MUCH nicer--little cubby areas to keep people's stuff in, a different layout that does not suck, etc. they basically expanded the bathroom size, which is why we went from 3 rooms to 2 residential rooms on that side of the hallway.
the basement is pretty nice. they actually did some cool tile work on both the stairway landing and the basement floor that says AEPi (greek Pi obv). it looks very nice. the booth room was still being finished, but it was basically the same. the only other big change is that we actually have 2 real, functional bathrooms in the basement now--the spare storage room is now an actual nice bathroom now.
the whole house is now networked for wireless now, there's routers on every floor (and even the basement). the exterior was basically the same, they fixed some of the problems with the tile work and wall sort of falling apart, so that's good.
basically, things came out really great. and the guys are doing great--they had 6 signed bids already and rush had about 2 weeks left, and they expected to be over 50 active brothers after fall rush. everyone i met for the first time seemed like good people. they had just had their beach party and were preparing for a foam party too.

This letter also notified you that your annual contribution to Carnegie Mellon may now be designated to any fraternity or sorority in good standing.Does anyone fully understand this? What exactly is this special fund? If i give this way is it really the same as giving directly to the chapter?
