When Buffy Summers loses her sister during the final fight with Glory, she leaves Sunnydale, lost and hurt. She heads to Los Angeles, intending to go elsewhere once she's given her father a piece of her mind.

Instead, she runs into someone she never thought she'd see again and, in a moment of need, finds herself drawn to Wesley Wynam-Pryce. He also recently suffered losses in his life - his friend Cordy, his business with Angel.

In each other, they find solace they might never have found in a different time and place.

Meanwhile, in Las Vegas, Fred Burkle is recovering from her time in Pylea with help from Nick Stokes, her former boyfriend, and CSI. When a demon makes itself known in Las Vegas, and then Sunnydale, the two go to Sunnydale to investigate. And together, all four fight for the future of mankind.
