I'm 35 years old with an 11 year old daughter. 3 weeks ago I got out of a dangerous and unhealthy relationship (of course it didn't start that way.. they never do) and now I'm focusing on getting my life back together.
I'm bi-polar II rapid cycler, deal with anxiety and OCD.

As a child we moved around a lot and I have never really got the people skills needed to interact with people. So here I am looking online.

I'm currently living in Saint Catharines On, been here for 10 years after moving from BC and escaping my mother.

I love to read and the one show that I CAN NOT miss is supernatural. I'm huge into music and have it on as often as I can.
I like writing poetry though there hasn't been anyone that has looked at them. They are private and hard to share because they are raw emotions and I'm scared what others will think.

If you think we could make a match let me know. If it doesn't work out it's all good :D

Hello.

Name: Carol
Age: 23
Favorite music: Rock, 90s latin-Bronx freestyle, j-rock, goth metal, new age, new wave, 80s music, 90s pop, 90s grunge, electronica, techno, house, dubb-stepp, merengue, some indie-rock, industrial, trance, jazz, disco.
Favorite book (or series): Harry Potter, Crank, Vampire Hunter D.
How a close friend would describe you in one sentence: A crazy, social, comfortably awkward, compassionate person.
Are you more a sci-fi or fantasy person? I lean more towards scifi. But I do like fantasy.
Do you also write sci-fi/fantasy? I dabble in both.
Why are you attracted to the genre? Because it's amazingly connected to science and with fantasy, I have a fascination with folklore.
Other than reading (of course), what do you like to do? Write, Blog, watch anime and read comic books, dance, go out and explore new places, macabre things, watch medical and criminology documentaries, make-up and take care of animals.
Do you have a website or something else we should check out?
Nope.

Hey I'm James, from the UK.
Anime addict.
Definite Gaming addict.
Music Lover.
US TV Show obsessive.

Almost definite Nerd/Geek.

I guess I'm looking for friends to connect with, not just someone who never posts or comments. That said I comment/post only when I feel like I have something to say so I can seem to vanish for long hiatus like sessions, Just because I don't post to my journal doesn't mean I never read yours :)

I can be random or funny, sometimes even both which is always fun.
I'm not religious in the least, though I do know some folk who are.

Fun fact: I've been working on this post for hours because I sometimes really lack any sort of motivation.

I do like to post youtube links of things that amuse me but I will mostly hide these behind a cut, not always but mostly.
I will also sometimes post pictures of myself and other cool things (not that I'm saying I'm cool :P)
but these follow the same rules as my youtube posts.

In summary then, I want to meet new people who will actually take an interest in my life and want to be a friend.

I hope you enjoyed reading and I look forward to meeting you.
I've been denied all the BEST

An old writer with a new journal seeking writer friends for feedback and shared support!

Name: Stephen (pen name, really, I'm female |D)
Age: Twenty-two!
Favorite music: Oh dear Lord. Christina Aguilera, Eisley, Gogol Bordello, Franz Ferdinand, The White Stripes, Coldplay, certain musicals (Thoroughly Modern Millie being a favourite), Cake, Akira Yamaoka, Shakira, Billy Joel, select Annie Lennox and Joni Michell, Gorillaz, Imogen Heap, Keane, The Killers, Katy Perry, Muse, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rasputina, Sigur Ros, The Arcade Fire, Cage the Elephant (who doesn't, right?), t.A.T.u., Abba, A Perfect Circle.
Favorite book (or series): The Enchanted Forest Chronicles, Patrica C. Wrede. Anything Margaret Atwood. Some Isaac Asmiov. Anything stream of conscious, Faulkner, Joyce, most old school Russian authors. I have a weak spot for some old Dragonlance books as well.
How a close friend would describe you in one sentence: She's tenacious with her loyalty, and far be it from me to tell her that all the love she gives may not be returned in kind.
Are you more a sci-fi or fantasy person? Fantasy, but I'm slowly getting in sci-fi overall.
Do you also write sci-fi/fantasy? I write fantasy, primarily. :>
Why are you attracted to the genre? I grew up in a very restricted environment. I was raised Calvinist, church twice a week, youth group, AWANA, and a private Christian school. Most "out of the norm" books were outlawed. For instance, Holes wasn't allowed because the same author had written a book called There's a Boy in the Girl's Bathroom, and this is totally not kosher. However, I managed to sneak a Dragonlance book one day, and then a few years later I saw a girl I knew of only in name reading it. We bonded, shared interests and books, and became great friends. The power of literature, and even genre—I owe it my adolescence!
Other than reading (of course), what do you like to do? I'm a big fan of studying cinema. I'm going to be taking classes to be a Certified Nursing Assistant, and I eventually want to take blood in order to keep myself afloat financially before breaking out as a novelist, screenwriter, actress, and a hopeful directing student once I get a little more money and apply for FAFSA. Pell grants, that is.
Do you have a website or something else we should check out? Mmm, nope! Just my personal journal, but I'm very keen on keeping that separate from this. It'd just super cluttered, and that's icky!
I know everything

Hi !

Name: Mandy
Age: 20 something
Favorite music: Right at this moment.... I've got Pandora playing an odd collection of comedy and kid's songs.... Stephen lynch, tripod, barenaked ladies and very rarely ... raffie.... Odd.  I'm also a bit of a Broadway Baby.  Some country.  Good country.  Like... the kind with melodies and... (OMG) harmonies.  I have a soft spot for the Rider's in the Sky
Favorite book (or series): Favorite? I don't know... I'll go with the one that taught me that books had really cool things in them.  It's 'Magic Kingdom for Sale-Sold" by Terry Brooks.  I'm reading the Dresden Files at this moment.  My bookshelf has this strange organization going.   The Harry Potter with the Lord of the rings.  The Dresden Files with The Jaz Parks CIA vampire story.  The Terry Pratchett Runs rampant next to the Christopher Moore.  Somewhere in there are the Aretmis Fowl and Bartemaeus trilogy.  Mostly Fantasy, but some sci-fi in there
How a close friend would describe you in one sentence: My boss keeps telling me I'm quirky.  I've yet to figure out if that's a good thing from your boss....
Are you more a sci-fi or fantasy person? More Fantasy.  But I'm a bit of a Trekkie too.  And By a bit I mean I have been known to yell at people for not knowing that Picard commanded the Enterprise D and E after the first one crashed in Generations...
Do you also write sci-fi/fantasy? I don't know about write.  I got into NANOWRIMO this past year as a way to force myself into being social and meeting people since I moved last year and Suck at getting to know people.  So... I'm most of the way through a super hero novel with a few more ideas for others in my head.
Why are you attracted to the genre? The places and possibilities.
Other than reading (of course), what do you like to do? I'm a bit crafty.  Bead shops are bad.  Really bad....  And if I had time I'd find a group to sing with, unfortunately I picked a job with hours least conducive to having a social life.
Do you have a website or something else we should check out? Um...no? not really.

Name: Miriam

Age: 23

Favorite music: Hummmm, difficult. I like a lot of cello rock/metal (think Apocalyptica and Break of Reality, if you know them) and string music in general, plus drum n bass, trashy dance-pop, soundtracks, Muse, The Dresden Dolls, French rap/slam...

Favorite book (or series): The Kushiel's Legacy Series by Jacqueline Carey; Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell by Susanna Clark; Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman; Fingersmith by Sarah Waters; The Gone-Away World by Nick Harkaway...

How a close friend would describe you in one sentence: Geeky, probably! Or perhaps overly practical.

Are you more a sci-fi or fantasy person? I used to like fantasy more, but I've been reading a lot of sci-fi recently. Basically I like both.

Do you also write sci-fi/fantasy? I used to write fanfiction, and I occasionally still write short stories. I'm trying to get back into it, but it's hard...

Why are you attracted to the genre? I love the plots. Whenever I read regular literature, unless the book is really really good, I'm generally disappointed by the lack of adventure. I love sci-fi because it tends to be either very thought provoking or just heaps of fun, and fantasy is just pure, delicious escapism. I also love the whole proccess of worldbuilding and reading about other places, so I suppose that ties into it.

Other than reading (of course), what do you like to do? I write book reviews, study at university (majoring in Geology, Geography, and French), go swimming/dancing/tramping/to the gym, and drink far too much green tea. I like travelling and am going to the Philippines next year on an environmental internship, and generally go through phases of being obsessed by grammar/politics/astronomy/maps. XD

Do you have a website or something else we should check out? Just my lj, although my review journal is restiva13 if you're interested.

Name: Amy

Age:32

Favorite music: I'm pretty eclectic. I like symphonic metal, various rock sounds, some jazz, classical, celtic. Indie bands.

Favorite book (or series): Oh geeze. Too many to name. I'm quite fond of Neil Gaiman's work. I love Anne Rice. Anne Bishop. Charles DeLint. Stephen King. Robert Jordan. George R.R. Martin. Frank Herbert. Phillip Pullman. I could go on and on.

How a close friend would describe you in one sentence: Creative, nerdy, a little quiet in person.

Are you more a sci-fi or fantasy person? More fantasy, but I do like a well-told science fiction.

Do you also write sci-fi/fantasy? I write urban fantasy, in the form of short stories and a graphic novel project. I also create fantasy-based art.

Why are you attracted to the genre? I love the sense of magic lurking just out of sight a well-written urban fantasy can bring. I love the epic, mythic, immersive, alternative historical feel stories such as the Wheel of Time or Song of Ice and Fire series bring. Overall, I just like to get lost in the sensation that there is more to the universe than is commonly perceived, even if that sensation is brought on by fiction.

Other than reading (of course), what do you like to do? Writing, art, long walks in nature (preferably with a camera)

Do you have a website or something else we should check out? Just my LJ for now, which is of course the purpose of this post. :P
