Long time Livejournal user trying to find a new place to write and make some new online friends. Some of the best relationships of my life were developed on LJ and I haven't found a site yet that comes close to allowing the same kind of personal connection. I hope to develop that here. Please add me and chat me up. I'm a big talker and always need somebody to appreciate my wisdom and Simpsons references. I have a really weird sense of humor and a habit of saying inappropriate things to people before they get to know me. Please forgive me and give me a chance if I do.

Empathy is the most important things to me. I appreciate great writers, artists, musicians, intellectuals, athletes, and beauty queens. But nothing else matters if we can't relate to each other on a human level. I've led an incredibly difficult life full of sickness and loneliness. It's made me appreciate kindness in other people.

I am a scientist at heart. I want to have a career where I can use science to help people while still having free time to read books by the beach. I want to eventually get a PhD. I sometimes go to museums by myself.

I was born in the southern United States with a lot of physical birth defects. I've used a wheelchair daily for most of my life. It's never hindered me. I've lived on my own in Florida and California. I'm a grad student and I drive a pretty blue car. I spend a lot of time at the beach and love being in the ocean. I'm trying to become an adaptive surfer. I'm in the process of starting a disabled traveling blog. I want to retire to New Orleans. I love cooking, I'm not much of a drinker, but I toke up daily and enjoy an occasional mojito.

We can live beside the ocean,
leave the fire behind.
Swim out past the breakers,
