Offshore wind is expanding faster than any other energy sector. The drive for larger turbine capacities and improved project economics is forcing offshore wind into deeper waters and harsher environments, demanding larger monopiles, greater penetration depths, and far more precise installation methods. At the same time, developers face rising cost pressures, tightening weather windows, supply bottlenecks, and increasingly strict environmental regulations, especially around underwater and airborne noise.

Intermoor, Acteon’s Moorings and Anchors business line, executed a multi-phase offshore decommissioning campaign for Petrojarl I FPSO offshore Brazil. The first phase included the provision of engineering for pull-in wire replacement, risers pull-out, mooring line disconnection, including a contingency plan of non-operability of mooring winches and the FPSO towing preparation and tow plan.

From scheduled inspection campaigns to rapid incident response, mooring integrity teams work above and below the waterline to assess condition and act where it matters. By identifying issues like mooring chain wear and seabed trenching around the anchors early, they deliver targeted repairs and life extension strategies that minimise disruption and protect asset performance.
