Car Rental for Summer 2007

Hi Acadia :)

I hope everyone's had a lovely break and aren't dreading classes starting too much...

A friend and I are attempting to plan a trip around the maritimes in the summer, but as the car rental places are stupid and put age restrictions, we can't rent a car the traditional way! Renting a car would actually be cheaper than bussing everywhere, so we'd like to try for that. So our question is: does anybody know of any car rental places that rent to 19 year olds? Or, perhaps even better, do you know of anyone who might be willing to rent their own car to us for approx. 10 days? If by any chance you do, please comment!!

Thanks in advance, and happy new year!

Care to share your computing @ Acadia stories?

What's up Acadia?

My name is Kaitlyn, and I'm working on a co-op placement at the University of Waterloo, mostly in the Arts Faculty Helpdesk, but also for the Information Systems and Technology department. IST is trying to keep up with students' computing needs here, and we'd like to know what you like and dislike about your school's approach.

Do you find your teachers' expectations exceed what the school can support when it comes to computing? Does your school have a required laptop program but doesn't support it? Or, do you love how well you can stay wired on your campus?

If you'd like to share your thoughts, please do so by filling out a 5-10 minute survey here:
http://arts.uwaterloo.ca/~kgholman….

The results will only be identifiable by IP address, and it will not be used in the analysis. I will only link your school to your answers.

If you have any questions, you can email me at aco.helpdesk {at} gmail.com.

Thanks, and I hope you're having a great fall semester.

Some lj-friends and I have created a new LJ community...

narewrimo

We're a lot like NaNoWriMo, but without the fancy website and dedicated to research writing instead of fiction.

Feel free to join us for National Research Writing Month, from Nov 1 - Nov 30. The goal of this endeavor is to offer encouragement to get stuff done, to basically partake in a community dedicated to BIC (Butt-in-chair) and complete whatever research writing tasks we have on hand.

We invite you to join us for this marathon of research writing if you have any reports, articles, a disseration, a thesis, or basically any non-fiction writing you need to complete.

Feel free to post notes in the community about what you are doing, daily word counts, and links to where we can find your progress.

Good Luck and Productive Writing!

Hey

I don't know if this post is allowed in the community, if not, let me know or delete it.

I'm a freelance journalist using livejournal as a way to see what is happening in communities/cities/towns in the maritimes. I'm on the search for subjects and story ideas. I'm a student at St. Thomas University. If anyone has any story ideas, any issues, problems, a hot tip, or something just doesn't seem right - feel free to contact me via e-mail or through livejournal.

All comments will be left screened to ensure the confidentiality of posters and will not be viewed by anyone other than myself.

Thanks.

Hello. I do not attend Acadia University, but I am a Junior in highschool, and am looking for colleges to apply to. I was wondering if anyone here knows how the International Relations program is, if there is one.

And because it would be safe to apply to more than one college, does anyone know any colleges in Canada that have a good International Relations program?

Thank you!

Journalism Project Article

Hello All!

I am a first year journalism student at Ryerson University who is doing a project article about university students and long distance relationships. If anyone here is in a long distance relationship that has lasted long than one year, or you were in a long distance relationship that lasted at least one year, and you don't mind being interviewed, please e-mail me at k2jarvis@ryerson.ca . I am also looking to interview students with strong points against long distance relationships. The interviews will be conducted via e-mail, with questions going out the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, or when you contact me, whichever is later. While this is a project, I am hoping to publish this. Thanks in advance!
