Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law

My child is soon to be ELEVEN in September- Im contemplating asking her Mother, whom I am divorced from- we are in friendly terms- I pay her CHILD support- she is currently Married- however does not share my interests in the OTO ( I am currenly III degree at KTO in SALEM MA) if she would allow our daughter to attend a GNOSTIC MASS ( A robed Mass) however- Im thinking that perhaps it is better to wait until she has reached puberty- which is right around the corner- especially for girls. ...I dont know if I want to Impress on her too much about any kind of "beleif system" although Im well aware that the world is doing it to her all the time..any thoughts?

Love is the law, love under will

Greetings!

Again.. Greetings!  Just getting started here. Thought I'd say hello. I am a father of one 7 yr old beautifully willful
7 yrs old girl.  She is a Gemini born one day after me. June 3rd.. Different yrs of course..  ; ) Though...  I must limit this right now,
as I feel a flood coming on! And I just don't have time to dive and splash
about just now. I also am an artist. Firstly in the realms of perception.. Secondly by expression, mainly photography
and painting. Hopefully in the fleeting rounds with my daughter, creatively contributing to her ever widening
and pliant neural web. Fostering questions, etc. Discipline/boundaries somehow with consistency, though not arbitrarily
and with understanding of context. In other words less the patriarchal mode of pure domination.  Seeking understanding.
Eye contact.. More silliness.. The will in autonomy and surrender.. Ok.

Happy return of the Sun/Son and the fool to you all! May you all quiver then in the joys and pleasure of a new pale fire!

Hello.

93
I am a Thelemite parent. Living in Hanover PA. My fiance is also a Thelemite. Between the two of us we have 5 children, ranging from two boys ages 11, and 10. To three girls 8, 7, and 1.
Needless to say our lives are never boring.
Not only are we very active in an active ecclectic community here. But we have a large Thelemite community as well. Unfortunately only one other is a parent.
So it is nice to find a community with the same concerns as our own.

Thelema Versus Parenthood

I am beginning to wonder if there are aspects of Thelema, and dynamics inherent in the roles and responsibilities of parenthood, which tend to make the two incompatible (or at least place them in a state of tension). Thelema places supreme importance upon the gnosis and realization of the True Will by the kingly individual. Parenthood requires at least some real measure of subordination of individual interests to those of the child, and the family as a collective group.

It is infuriating to me that it can even be argued that school children should be deliberately lied to or refused information about their own reproductive systems, yet it is happening all over America. And so frequently, the rightist wingnuts use the BS excuse of "protect OUR children!" Whose children? You aren't protecting MY child by having a trusted authority figure lie to him about how the human body works.

So for the parents who don't agree in raising ignorant children - here you go.

Are you a parent? If so, we hope you will join our new online network: Parents for Prevention!

At last month's hearing on the Comprehensive Health Education bill, opponents wore big round stickers proclaiming "Parents' Rights", in an effort to make it appear that parents oppose comprehensive sex education. We know that this small but vocal minority does not reflect the opinions of most parents.

In fact, according to a 2004 national poll, 93% of parents believe that birth control and methods of pregnancy prevention are appropriate topics for sex education classes - favoring comprehensive sex education that provides information about both abstinence and protection methods. We need to make sure that our legislators, the media, and the larger community are hearing from the vast majority of parents who understand the importance of bolstering the information teens hear at home, and countering the misinformation that young people receive through the media and from their peers, with real sex education in the public schools. By working together, we can help keep young people safe and healthy.

We are inviting all members of the Planned Parenthood Action Network who are parents to join our Parents for Prevention online network. Whether your children are in diapers, high school, or are now parenting themselves, you will receive updates that give you the information you need to advocate for your child's health and wellness. We'll also provide you with opportunities to take action to ensure that your voice is heard by policymakers.

Joining Parents for Prevention is easy, and it's free! - just visit http://www.ppaction.org/pplm/event… and you'll add your voice to those of parents across the state who are standing up for real sex education to keep their kids safe. Don't wait - join today!

Crowned and Conquering Child Academy

93 Everyone,
I had a funny dream last night.
I was making arrangments to send my 9 year old to the Crowned and Conquering Child Academy in New York State. Of course this facility doesn't exist but I was so excited to have her educated in a school that promotes the idea that each child is unique and has their own unique strengths. It has educators that are dedicated to not only instructing the kids in academics but also in assisting them in the discovery of their True Wills. Then I woke up and wondered how many of us are actively instructing our children using the terminology and techniques in our system. I have talked to a couple of people in the past and the response has varied. Some people, I think, feel that Thelema is not for kids. They may feel that the philosophical implications are just too sophisticated for a child to grasp and feel that if they are "into it" they will naturally gravitate to it when they are of age to make the decision. Some people may think that it is downright WRONG as to influence kids toward any religious ideology is wrong (I use the term religious loosly here). Some people may think that it is their responsiblity as a parent to instill their interpretation of the Thelemic value system onto the kids. There are so many different way to go with this.
I have two daughters, 9 and 2 1/2 years old and my husband and I tend to gravitate more or less to the idea that it is our responsibility to raise Thelemic children and expose them to "the basics." For example, we regularly do Will before meals and they are familiar with Liber Resh. They attend EGC events and sometimes color during classes;-). Has anyone developed any programs for children at their local body? Wasn't their a Thelemic Parenting Conference a few years back out West? Right now my kids are the only kids at the LB. There are other parents, but the kids are grown or they are not exposed to the OTO. Thanks in advance for your comments.

raising Christian children...?

93 and hello - I'm new to this group, but have been an LJer for years now...

I have been a Thelemite for just over 2 years now - it is my Path, I know within my heart. I am the father of an 11-year old girl and a 7-year old boy, who have been living with their mother since our divorce of six years ago. I was raised a Christian, and so were they - they continue to attend a Christian church to this day.

What has gotten me abit nervous is that they are coming to live with me and my present wife, who is Pagan(not Thelemite), in just under three months.

With that being said, as a born and bred Christian in the South(!), a bookcase full of magick and witchcraft books was NOT something we ran into everyday - and if we did, we ran the other way!

What will be their reaction to their Daddy's now very different religious beliefs?

My family is NOT aware of my change in religious outlook - I know for a fact my mother would immediately start weeping and who knows what else! But it's my children that I am concerned about, no one else.

ANY advice would be greatly appreciated...

My partner and I had to argue with the Hospital a bit, but they let us go home with the placenta after our daughter's birth. I'm familiar with placental blood being used in Cakes of Light, but I'm curious if there are any rights or rituals centered around the newborn and the placenta in Thelema.
Also, we are planning a tree planting with a portion of the placenta at each of our parents' houses in lue of christening and baptisms. Any suggestions for source material or similiar experiences?
