FINALLY!!! ANOTHER INTELLECTUAL WHO KNOWS WHATS GOING ON!! ITS ALPHYS! ITS ALWAYS BEEN ALPHYS!! Even in undertale, who made the true pacifict lab? ALPHYS! Who is the one always doing morally dubious things in order to further some secretive cause that poses a threat to the society of the game? ALPHYS!! Who made a big machine that looks like a deer? ALPHYS!! They even cover for you when you Toriel asks how youve been doing in class (if you walk towards the school exit whot the trash ball on your head, they are there, they see you, and they don’t react with shock, they know whats going on!! It has to be Alphys! They were the secret “villian” of undertale, and they are back at it again!! Its gotta be them!
what they dont tell you about strict dietary restrictions is how incredibly socially isolating it is.
your friends want to go grab something to eat? wait, gotta look up the menu and allergens of the place they want to go. oh, the restaurant doesn't have anything you can safely eat? either go and don't eat anything, don't go, or spend another twenty minutes trying to find another place that DOES have something you can eat.
and if they DO have options, you usually have to tell the server more than once about your restrictions, which is embarrassing because you usually have to talk about your personal medical bullshit to a total stranger, and usually takes a little while because then you might also have to ask for clarification on things like, are your french fries cooked in the same oil as chicken nuggets? yes, you have gluten free noodles, but do you use flour in your sauce?
and!! your options are usually more expensive!! you usually have to pay at least $2 more at a restaurant for gluten free bread, pizza crust, pasta, whatever it is! at least!
also like. potlucks? nope, can't do that unless you can trust every single person bringing something to be careful about cross contamination, and careful about reading all the ingredients on every single thing they use and knowing what is and what isn't okay for you to eat. and you dont know if they washed all their dishes and cookware thoroughly before they made the food! it doesn't matter if you use all gluten free ingredients if you use the same spoon to stir the regular noodles and the gluten free ones!
you can't share food with your friends either. no stealing fries off their plate, no taking the pickle from your pickle-disliker friend, no sharing a sip of a beverage. if they touch your food, then fuck you, you probably can't eat it now, it's been contaminated.
going over to someone's house and just bringing your own food feels shitty but you have to do it, because you might not be able to trust them to make food you can eat! and you don't want to be insulting, but you also don't want to risk getting sick!
and turning down offered snacks sucks. i made these cookies for everyone at work, except you i guess! here, you want a piece of candy? no, i dont have the original packaging for the ingredients list.
it just. sucks. people don't realize how incredibly isolating it is to have to follow a strict dietary restriction.
Gentle (yet firm reminder, that not taking into account your friends dietary resitrictions is ableism. If you like to cook and cant cook for those with dietary restrictions, you are not a good chef. Cooking around dietary restrictions is a fun little puzzle to put my skills to the test imo.
I am back on Tumblr! There is too much AI slop on instagram, so I have decided to begin using this site again. Classes start again soon! I have been working almost full time all summer, and with that, comes having to interact with people against my better judgement. In turn, I have recently been coming to terms with the fact that I am indeed extremely paranoid, and have been for at least the past few months, if not forever (my memory is straight ass, so idk). I tend to hide behind a facade (a mask some might say), because being genuine in my life would mean that people can hurt the real me, and thats scary. Anyway, I have been in a do it scared mood lately. I’ve started wearing small deer antlers (they are very cute, Im a big fan) to go dancing (at what at least used to be known as the nazi bar in my town). Its been scary, but Ive done it anyway because Im so sick of hiding. I am (obviously) still alive! This bodes well for my future I think, as I (usually) beleive being alive is more fun than not that. This summer has been given me a lot of insight into masking (something I havnt had to do for a prolonged period of time in the several years). My coworkers are very chill, but my uniform makes it very difficult to present as a woman, and corporate professionalism dictates that I act like a normie around customers. I also get to have that crushing customer service realization of the true nature of wealth inequality. This shows its face when I have to help a lady pick out a color for her butler pantry and only get paid 17.50/hr to do so (I have it better than some, and can still barely afford groceries). I have been coping with this by playing the harmonica! Its a very expressive instrument, and although I am not very good, Im having fun! I get to meet my roommate for the academic year today! Im quite excited as it would seem they put with a woman(possibilty for peace) and not a man(yuck). Anyway, I think that probably enough rambling for now. Thank you for reading I suppose. I hope you enjoyed this very meandering life update!
TL;DR (am I using this right?): I am back, summer hard but almost over, deer girls unite!
happy Barely Keeping It Together Wednesday to all who celebrate
Dislocated my shoulder (partially I think) in my sleep last night. Called of work and spent all day in excruciating pain. Last time I went to the ER for this, they said it was a rotator cuff injury (Ive had rotator cuff injuries, they dont burn down your arm and then dissapear within 24 hrs). I love being disabled /s
Today I wanted to talk about Kyle Bassinga. Kyle was a 21 year old man from Georgia, whose family described him as "a kind, thoughtful, and smart young man who loved nature, music, and the people around him". Kyle Bassinga was killed on February 18th 2026, just ten days after his birthday. He was found hanging from a tree in a park.
The police ruled it a suicide. The family and local community demanded an investigation. The police refused to change their ruling.
I know this website it too white for this to really go anywhere, but an understanding of the present reality of white supremacy in the United States is just so important to transfeminism here. Lynchings never stopped, white supremacy never went away, you just stopped looking.
Juliana Nzita, A 16 year old Black girl, was just found hanging from a tree on church grounds in Charlotte, NC. Police have ruled it a suicide, despite hanging ourselves from trees being like the one communally agreed way Black folks ain’t killing ourselves.
Every time I go on Twitter or Facebook I learn about another recent lynching or missing Black person going mostly unreported. Half the reason I keep an active account on either of those sites is because they’re the only place I can find out about the violence happening to Black and Trans people reasonably quickly.
But I do need y’all to know that Black folks are currently, actively, being disappeared and lynched—if they even find our bodies. Black girls are and have been more often stolen into human trafficking, especially if they’re immigrants, but I’ve been seeing new news of probable lynchings every other day. Shit is worse than you think it is right now, tumblr just too white of a site to care lol
Anti-Marginilized people will say we don’t need anti racism or anti homophobia transphobia or whatever, and than write off modern lynchings as isolated moments. THEY ARE NOT! They are baked into our system on a level so fundamental that honestly, the only way to really see change would be start from the beginning.
When someone asks what right nonmarginalized people have that marginalized people need, it is the right to life. As lynching and other public murders make a comeback *as if they ever went away* do not let anyone tell you that we dont need to fight for the rights of marginalized people.
When they ask why we cant all get along despite our “political” differences, its because of this. Civil disagreements are only acceptable when we are discussing whether taxes should fund schools or roads. NOT MURDER!
YOU CANNOT DEBATE ANYONES RIGHT TO LIFE!! YOU CANNOT DEBATE ANYONES RIGHT TO BODILY AUTONOMY!! YOU CANNOT DEBATE US AWAY!!
Similarly, you cannot debate your own right to life. You have to take that shit. Compromise when it comes to oppression is still oppression.
As marginanlized people are coming into increasingly more danger on a day to day basis, if you consider yourself an ally, you have to take action! Your words mean nothing to anyone without action.
lesbian flag is really cool i might stop being bisexual
This, but the other way around tbh. Also, finding myself constrained by the gender binary. Do I know lesbianism can be gender expansive? YES! Does that stop me from feeling shame when I find myself attracted to expansive genders? Unfortunatly not. Is that a me problem? Absolutly.
i do think i’m better than people for not shopping on shein or temu
I want to preface, I am specifically talking about people who can afford to shop elsewhere but still use Shein or Temu or the like. People who use these sites out of necessity are victims of a predatory system that forces them to contribute to other predatory systems. However, if you can afford to shop elsewhere, unironically, I think you are just a little bit evil. Not to say that you are irredeemable or on par with truly despicable people, but you should examine your ways and try to do better by your fellow humans. Speaking from an american perspective, convenience is so heavily prioritized, and we are so far removed from the consequences of this convenience, that its so easy for us to ignore the direct harm of our excess consumerism. Shein and Temu are very extreme examples of this principle, where we know about the child labor exploitation used to make clothes, but its easy to forget the lesser exploitation done by other companies, such as amazon. Every package you order has to go through a line of people being overworked and underpaid to save you the effort of going to buy things yourself. Again, necessity is a different matter. Im not going to get up on my soap box and say I never use amazon. I am a disabled woman who lives in a sort of isolated town. For a while, I did not have access to a car, and needed to order a few things. Ethical consumption under capitalism is near impossible and completely unaffordable for most people. I am not here to shame you, but to ask you to examine your actions, and consider if there is a better way to live your life that makes some elses life easier as well.
TL;DR Internet shopping bad, Amazon is my Arasaka (minus the nuclear bomb. I would never(probably)).
Anyway, you are loved, and not alone. <3
