. . . at the tiny Cossey Arboretum in Fredericksburg. This tree is named for Benjamin Franklin and hasn’t been seen in the wild since 1790, though it is found in gardens. Every living tree is a descendant of seeds collect by John Bartram and his son in 1765. I’d never seen it before and then saw two of them today on different sides of town.
Fascinating story. It's beautiful!
