Tutorial; Thor (Age of Ultron) coloring

I thought it's been a while since my last tutorial.

I use Adobe Photoshop CS3 though it should be easily translatable to newer versions - all the steps are fairly easy - but if you have a newer version it would be best if you have a basic grasp of where things are.

If anyone has ANY questions about any steps, or if I made a mistake or wasn't clear, please comment and I'll try my best to answer it or fix it.

Also, if there is an icon I've made that you'd like the tutorial for or in the future feel free to comment on that post saying something like "I'd love a tutorial for #___" and I'll try my best to recreate it. I rarely save the .PSDs for my icons so it will be a recreation but I usually go on automatic so I can guess what I've done.

Coloring Tutorial

Here is a tutorial for how I do my coloring using a recent icon I made as an example.

I use Adobe Photoshop CS3 though it should be easily translatable to newer versions, to be quite honest I haven't used anything new than CS4 - but all the steps in this is fairly easy.

If anyone has ANY questions about any steps or if I made a mistake or wasn't clear, please comment and I'll try my best to answer it or fix it.

Also, if there are any icons you'd like a tutorial for now or in the future feel free to comment on that post saying something like "I'd love a tutorial for #__" and I'll try my best to recreate it if it's something that I feel is different than what's out there already, I very rarely save the .PSDs.

tutorial; B&W w/color - Amy Lee "What You Want"

A while back many members expressed interest in me posting tutorials, I didn't forget about that... I've just lost focus since tutorials are so time consuming to write.

Black and white, adding a splash of color using Photoshop CS3. Transferable to, I believe, other versions of Photoshop - I'm not sure if it translates well to PSP (Paintshop Pro).

In this tutorial we're going to use this screencap.

I hope that this tutorial was helpful in some way. I fee like I'm bad at explaining things, in general, so if there's something that you don't understand or need more explaining don't be afraid to comment and ask. I'll try to help to the best of my ability.

If you have a specific icon that I made that you'd like to see a tutorial of comment with it and I'll try to write a tutorial for it, that is if it was made somewhat recently - if it's an older icon it might be hard for me to remember, but I'll try.

Tutorial; Coloring - Britney TTWE

I've been meaning to write up a coloring tutorial for a while now, ever since a friend of mine asked me to write one up - but seeing some of the votes in the poll as well a comment saying "Any kind of tutorials are good, but I especially love your colouring and text/fonts." it made me want to write one up tonight. I'll be doing one with text and other full icon tutorials later on.

Simple, vibrant coloring using Photoshop CS3. Transferable to, I believe, other versions of Photoshop - I'm not sure if it translates well to PSP (Paintshop Pro).

I don't usually save the .PSDs of what I post here so in this tutorial I recreated the icon, I think I did pretty well.

In this tutorial we're going to use this screencap.

Tutorial 09; Curved text & See through text

Alright, some people wanted to know how to do this effect on the text. So hopefully some people will find this helpful. If anyone wants me to write any more tutorials, comment to my last post.

Remember I use PSP8, I don't know if all the terms translate into PS or other versions of PSP.

Steps 1-5 are to achive the curved text effect, and steps 6-10 are to achive the see through text effect.

Icons made used these two techniques. (If you use the icons, credit 2thousand3.)

Tutorial 08; How to use light textures

ruination wanted me to make a tutorial for an Amy Lee icon I made, but since I have a bad memory and can't remember what I did. So she asked if I could right a tutorial on how to use light textures and textures.

Remember I use PSP8, I don't know if all the terms translate into PS or other versions of PSP.

Tutorial 07; "X-Girlfriend" icon

Alright someone asked me to write a tutorial for an icon made of Gwen Stefani from the No Doubt music video "Ex-Girlfriend" that I posted a while ago. So here is the tutorial.

Remember I use PSP8, I don't know if all the terms translate into PS or other versions of PSP.

Please note that this tutorial is to inspire NOT to be copied step by step when making your own icons to share.

Also please note that the final icon will not exactly match the one I made a while ago, as I forgot how exactly I made the icon though it is somewhat close and somewhat exactly as how I did it.

Tutorial 05; Cropping & How it "Makes" an Icon

How does cropping help 'make' an icon? Well cropping can show someone looking at the icon what your focus point is.

There are many ways of cropping an image. In this tutorial I'll show you different ways of cropping your image to get different bases to work with. If you look at my icons you can tell that I use everything that I stated in this tutorial. Also if you look at my icon you can tell that I like to crop images so that I have a good place to write text if I wanted to.

Remember that I use PSP8 so I am unsure if this translates well into PS or other versions of PSP.

Note: Image heavy.
