long hair, waves, 2009

Hi!

1. What's your name?
      Jamie Leigh, 28 yrs :)
2. What's your kid(s) name(s)?
Autumn Rhiannon, Lelan Bennet (thanks to my ex-husband! I call him "Ben"!), Austin Bennet,  Angelina Kaitlyn, and Aiden Kain (for whom I joined this group!)
3. When were he/she/they born?
     Autumn - Oct 2, 2001    Ben - Jan 21, 2003    Austin - Mar 25, 2004    Angelina - Sep 27, 2005
Aiden - Nov 20, 2006 (Again, for whom I joined the group, lol)
4. Where are you from?
Sheffield, AL currently, but I have lived all over north AL. :)
5. What are your hobbies?
Anything geeky, like D&D, video games, sci-fi & fantasy books & movies, cooking, running, playing & listening to music
6. What is your (your spouse's) job?
Stacker, at the Jimmy Dean branch of Sara Lee
7. What are your child(ren)'s personality(s) like?
Wow, they're all so different, it's hard to believe they all came from me! :) Autumn loves drawing and painting, Ben loves reading (he is only 5, but can already read and write anything), Austin is my little tough tiger, with an interest in martial arts, Angelina is my singer...when I play the piano or flute, she comes running up and makes up her own lyrics, and Aiden already has a strong pitching arm! ;)
8. Do your kids look like you and how?
My younger daughter (2 yrs) looks JUST LIKE ME when I was that age. The only difference is, I had yucky bangs, thanks to the 80's, lol. :P The others are a pretty fair mix.
9. What are some things you learned so far in your 2006 baby's life?
Patience, definitely, since I already had 4 kids, aged 5 and under, when he came along! And as he and they have grown, I have come to appreciate that they are all their own person, and they have and will have their own hopes and dreams. It's my responsibility to make sure they don't lose those dreams! :)
10. What ways have your kid(s) amazed you?
Everything they say is so profound! It's amazing (and amusing) to hear their viewpoints on the world and what they see around them. It's refreshing! :)
11. Got any pictures of the lil squirt?
Sure do, and as soon as I figure all this stuff out, I will post some!

Hey mamas!!

I need some advice and input on your experiences...My husband and I have been talking about having another baby for awhile, but I will be graduating in May and I really want to get a job teaching. If we get pregnant now, they would be 3 years apart. If we wait, they'll be 4 years apart. I'm worried about that much of an age gap. I want them to play together and enjoy doing things together. SO, basically, I want your input!! If you have children that are 3 or 4 years apart, what do you notice? How do they play together? Is 4 years too big of a span?  TIA!!

Neat Birthday Ideas

I was driving home from work and this lady was being interviewed on birthday ideas because it was the radio announcers 4oth birthday and she was asking listeners special stories about their birthdays.

One lady called in and said the year she turned 50, her mom gave her a present on the 22nd of each month starting in January (the caller's birthday was June 22).    She said just little things, like bath salts, her fave flavor of coffee.   But she said it was so nice to just be thought of.  Her mother told her it was because having her was the most important thing she had ever done.

It's too late for me to relate this to the ppl in MY life as I will be hitting the big 30 in Nov and its too late for me to have done it for my husband who turned 30 in June.   But maybe we can do special things like this for the girls when they hit milestone birthday.....so this is basically a note to self for when they turn 5 or something :)

naps and spit up

My nineteen month old is refusing naps. we've been up since before 8am and its past 230pm now and shes no where near a nap. yesterday it was nearly 5pm before she would lay down. she used to be  like clockwork; shed nurse around noon and be down by 1 till about 330. it was perfect. nothing has changed in routine or her life. do they normally stop naps this young. its driving me nuts.

also, She does this chipmunk thing. anytime she eats, snacks or meals or any sort of food doesnt matter, she eats and eats till her cheeks are full and everything is fully chewed and then she gets a face and spits it all out. normal foods, foods she loves. again, no change in diet or anything.

help:)

An actual concern post....

Hey! I have the twins, Aidan and Amelia! They are two, remember me?

Anyways, I have an actual post of some importance as opposed to updates.

I think my daughter has an imperforated hymen. :-(

I know it seems weird no one has noticed to date, but no one seems to have. The doctors haven't. I knew it must be a small opening, I wasn't sure what a "normal" hymen looks like. I don't remember having mine. Anyways, I just today had a particularly messy poop to clean and I pulled apart a tad to clean. No wonder she fidgets when I clean her up. I always assumed there was an opening and made sure my wipe came away clean, but I never really looked because I didn't want to seem invasive. She literally only has a tiny speck to urinate from. I can't find anything saying this might resolve itself. I only found references saying that It's like 1 in 2,000 odds and that it has to be surgically corrected so that normal bleeding can occur at puberty.

I worry myself over things. Do you think this may resolve itself? I know sometimes normal hymen's break. She's never been alone with anyone without me, other than her father, so it is not sexual abuse (I read that it can cause that, isn't that awful?). No, this isn't scar tissue, it's just a blank slate, perfectly closed :-s I feel kinda like an idiot for not looking closer, but I have read sometimes this isn't diagnosed UNTIL puberty when the girl does not bleed and instead has only cramping and pain.

Let me know if anyone has found their daughter to have this issue too. I don't know what I should do now. If I have to doctor look, I think I would have her get it corrected sooner rather than later, when she is in puberty and perhaps more afraid/ashamed/aware.

I have yet to tell my husband, he's at work. This is just an odd discovery.

Cloth Diapering

I'm getting interested in cloth diapering for my next baby and have been reading up on it a little bit.  Where do you gals buy your diapers from? How many do you have? I read that you need about two dozen, does that seem right? Do you really think it saves a lot of money and is as easy as disposables??

Thanks for your help/opinions!

Second or Third or More Pregnancies

I was just wondering, to those of you who have had or are having baby number two, three, four, etc. How have these pregnancies compared to your first one?  My first (and only) pregnancy was very easy and enjoyable. I hardly had any sickness (only nauseausness) and didn't get really uncomfortable until the last couple of weeks. I had some back pain and some sciatic nerve pain, but nothing bad at all. I actually loved being pregnant!!

That being said, I have been reading up a little bit on second pregnancies and have found a few things saying that they were much worse than the first. Many women had a great first pregnancy and a horrible second or third one. I am concerned because my husband and I are planning on TTC in the next few months, hoping to get a summer baby. I am going to be in my last year of college, which will include student teaching my last semester. I am getting nervous after reading all this stuff, thinking it might be too much to take on. I had always thought my next pregnancies would be fairly easy, since my first was, but now I'm not so sure.

Any thoughts and experiences are welcomed.
