The 1863 Club welcome’s in 2023 and start the New Year with a series of Head races coming up in January and February.
As our members gain in strength and experience, our coaches will be aiming to submit as many crews as possible while the racing calendar hots-up, seeking to emulate (or better) the success of our senior boys VIII who qualified for the Princess Elizabeth Challenge Cup at the Henley Royal Regatta, June 2022. We are very proud of this achievement, with a continuously upward trajectory the boys (along with an NSR A Final among others) peaked by confirming they are one of the fastest schoolboy VIII’s in the country. They raced Enniskillen Royal B.C (another state school programme and from Northern Ireland). A testament to their hard work, commitment and determination. We are 1863!

The 1863 Club enables boys and girls attending local state schools to learn to row and compete at national level.
We work closely with partners to provide a rowing programme which enables new rowers to learn the sport, to continue to be competitive, to work together as a team, to get fit and to enjoy rowing.
The money to fund this rowing programme is partly funded by monthly donations from the members but we seek to continue to raise additional money in order to cover the remaining costs. Over the years the 1863 Support Group has successfully raised funds for the purchase of boats and equipment and continue to operate fundraising projects.
