wooster

hello! i'll warn you up front, this will probably be a pretty long post, but if you can read any of it and give me some thoughts, i would be really grateful!

i just finished my freshman year at a college where i am not totally happy, and am thinking of transferring in january, possibly to the college of wooster.

i would likely be double-majoring in english lit and women's studies - so, if any of you in either program could comment, i'd love to hear what you have to say.
-how is the range of classes and professors?
-are these strong programs here?
-in english, do you have to apply specifically to be on the writing track? if you are doing literature, is it possible to also take writing classes?

also, is there an education major or minor at wooster? anyone in it have any particular likes or dislikes concerning it?

one thing i don't like about my current school is that the overall political feel is pretty conservative.
-how would you characterize students' politics at wooster?
-are there pretty active political groups at wooster?

on transferring:
-is anyone else here a transfer? did you transfer in the fall or spring? did wooster do much to help you adjust?

okay, i think that's all i have. thank you so much!

This is a somewhat desprate call out here but does anyone know the location of one of the grills that hospitality used to rent out. They are not very helpful over there and I am trying to find one for my clubs event. Any knowledge along these lines would be very helpful.
Thanks

Hello,

I just recieved my housing assignment and I'm living in room 020 in Babcock. It's a single in the basement, and I'm pretty excited about what sounds like a pretty good deal. :) The dimensions are 15'5" by 11'5"... but I was wondering what anyone else could tell me about the singles in the basement of Babcock... are they tiled or carpeted? Do they have small windows near the tops of the room? How are the closets/furniture... and are the beds loftable?

Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

Good News!

The IT helpdesk has improved!

We have recently purchased and implemented new software that will help us to help you. Track-It is helpdesk software that enables us to create work orders for your computer problems. It will allow us to classify your problem by type and assign it to a specific technician. Track-It will automatically send an email notification when your work order is updated or closed. That way you will be kept up to date on the status of your request. Track-It provides a way for us to log the steps that have been taken to resolve your problem. With the addition of this software, no work order should slip through the cracks and the time it takes for problems to be resolved will be reduced significantly.

This is a sample of the type of email that you will receive when there has been a change in your work order:

Alumni Wha?

So I made a companion site to 1189_beall a while back called 1189_beallalums and if you are an alumnus of The College of Wooster, I highly recommend you check it out. Add yourself to the friends list and if you have any questions regarding where people are and what they are doing, go ahead and post. Tell us what's up in your life as well, and if you have anything interesting that happened to you recently, like running into another Woo grad, let us know. Think of it as a way of having a Class Notes section more than four times a year. And, naturally, a place where we can bitch about how Wooster has gone downhill or uphill since we were there. ;)

Enjoy!

kenardennn..

hey guys.

i'm going to be a soph next year at woo, and i lucked out and got a double in kenarden. I've been over there a few times, but i can't really remember what the deal with the rooms are. So here's my question to you guys: I'm thinking about getting two dish chairs to put in our room, but is there enough room? Like what furniture comes with a typical kenarden double?

Thanks! :)

I think I'm missing something.

Hello, I'm a senior in high school this year and I just sent in my deposit, so I am officially attending Wooster next fall, and I'm very happy with my decision.

I just have a quick question that I was hoping some of you could help me with. I was checking out the website for the Wooster Voice and I came across this letter to the editor: http://www.wooster.edu/voice/viewp… .

Is this a... joke? I don't get it... I really hope these restrictions aren't real restrictions that are actually going to be put into place. I'm pretty gullible, so if it is a joke, I fell for it and am concerned.

Any clarification on the issue would be great. Thanks!

The Red Double Scar

Ok, I am SO angry about the incredibly ugly statue that is marring our beautiful campus lawn! Is no one else pissed off? Why is no one saying anything on LiveJournal? Let's start a friggin' discussion here, folks! Or just find that petition that's drifting around campus to get the statue moved and sign it!
