For those of you who’ve just joined:
Welcome to the community!
One Foot Forward is a philosophy of beginning, and continuing on a journey, no matter what that journey is. All's it takes is one step, one foot forward, and soon, the past will be behind you, and the horizon is all you'll see.
There comes a time in everyone’s life when there’s a feeling for the need to change, and one of the most common needs to change is weight loss. Encompassing weight loss is the dreaded ‘life-style change’. Life style changes could be a little as incorporating more walking into your day, or eating fewer sweets, but it could be the whole kit-and-caboodle.
Everyone is welcome, no matter how much or how little weight needs to be lost, or even if it’s not weight that needs to change. Just keep in mind that one person’s 5 pounds overweight is another person dream goal, and neither is less stressful to that person than the other. So, whether you need to lose 10 pounds to fit into that swimsuit for summer, or 75 pounds for a better quality of life, this will be a community of welcome, encouragement, and compassion.
Esteem issues rank high for most people either looking to lose weight or get fit. Everyone will have down days, down weeks, and we all can spiral away from our goal’s path. As they say in AA, if you ‘slip’, pick yourself up and put yourself back on track. :) You will have many that will be behind you, and beside you, to lend a hand, and maybe a (gentle) kick in the pants.
This community will have no rules – other than to treat one another kindly and with compassion. Share your story, your goals, your successes and failures if you are comfortable sharing them. I would like though, for members to provide some basic information about themselves. An introduction post, if you will. Tell us who you are (even if most might know you already), tell us what you hope to achieve – as simple as ‘a healthy way of eating’ to ‘I need to lose 100 pounds, but for the first year, I will attempt to lose 30 pounds, eat healthier, and exercise more’. Then, once you feel comfortable sharing (if you do, mind) then regale us with your stories of victory or perils with Baskin Robins.
In a separate post, there will be information to help you get started, or maybe give more direction to what you’ve already started. As the community goes along, informational posts will be forthcoming. ANY member can post information, and if possible, provide links to sites used in helping with weight loss.
Recipes are highly encouraged! And if you have the calorie breakdown, so much the better!
I think that’s all for now, so good luck!
*note* Also, I mean no disrespect to any country who uses measurements other than pounds/ounces. I know there are so many American pounds to a 'stone', but I don't know what the conversion is. I will however, look up a conversion table, a site that can be utilized for easier understanding. Heck, I might start using 'stone' as a weight measurement. It sounds so much better to weight 18 stone than 200 pounds!
