love how the elnina and lanino plushies have a hand holding feature they don’t bother to show, while spamton and tenna have official images holding hands and noses

im not saying that you have to like spamtenna or that everyone should want them to/they should get back together, but i think that willfully ignoring the romantic subtext between the two is doing a disservice to both of them.

we’re getting to a “historians will say they were good friends” point, for fucks sake. guys, i don’t think toby keysmashed the name of a chocolate brand that has secret love messages as the filename of “and now for today’s sponsor” on accident

there’s a real classism problem with fan interpretations of spamtenna, and i think it really influences how people talk about big shot era spamton:

tenna had the power and influence from the beginning. he’s the lord of tv world so he’s confident, rich and charming. it’s in his nature

on the other hand, spamton is nouveau riche. he had to weasel his way into the top. he suffers from imposter syndrome because he IS an imposter. he never really belonged there

this is how you end up getting a lot of the arrogant sweaty mean spanton headcanons that people treat as the truth

spamton and tenna live in a world where queerness is accepted but their story still parallels the relationships of older queer people (specially those with ties to public life/the entertainment industry)

they were partners, they made each other better. but when they went from being a duo into a couple things began to get messier.

they wanted to be out, to be publicly and officially an item. but coming out (signing the contract) has a lot of risks. they both knew it wouldn’t be easy and they both made the decision to do it because they trusted in their future together.

spamton’s downfall made him into an outcast. people learnt about his secret and immediately turned on him, shunning him from public life . he ended up as a heartbroken mentally ill homeless man who believes no one would love him ever again (platonically or romantically).

on the other hand tenna got to keep his carrier even as guilt consumed him. it will never be the same as it once was. he knows the ice is thin and a single misstep would mean sinking to the bottom, so he puts on a smile. he tightens his tie. he talks about the old days. and he keeps his pipis hidden deep inside a closet
