What do I do about a broken printer?

The short answer is: it depends.

If you encounter a broken printer, we ask that you report it, and then use the NYU Print Status tool to find the closest working Print Service Station.

How to report a broken printer:

  1. Use the Report a Problem button on a printer's page in the  NYU Print Status tool. These links are customized to individual printers and will help you reach the right people as quickly as possible. Please note: Repair times will vary based on the issue reported and will not happen instantly.
  2. If there is no Report a Problem button available, some printer locations may have other ways to reach out for help. See below for location-specific details.

Specialized & Poster Printing On-Campus in NY

Looking for more options than 8.5"x11" paper in black and white or color? NYU has resources for that.

Practice Sustainable Printing

  • Review documents and only print the pages you need. Use "Print Preview" mode to avoid printing unnecessary pages.
  • Check your settings. Whenever possible, print double-sided and in black & white (color toner has a greater cost and environmental impact).
  • Save ink. When appropriate, adjust margins and font size to use less paper, and consider ink-saving fonts like Calibri, Century Gothic, or another eco-friendly typeface.
