Named in 1973 by Chiyoko Henmi, Isao Kusachi, Kitinosuke Henmi, Peter Aubrey Sabine, and Bian Raymond Young for Bicchu (also given as Bitchu, Bitcho-Cho, and Bicchu-Cho), Okayama Prefecture, Chugoku Region, Honshu Island, Japan the town wherein the Japanese type locality is situated, although Bicchu was subsequently encompassed by an expanded Takahashi City.
