About Lithian MuscoviteHide

Formula:
KAl2(AlSi3O10)(OH)2
A lithium-bearing variety of Muscovite.
A red muscovite does not necessarily imply that the muscovite is lithium rich. Chemical analyses have indicated that muscovite can be pink, not due to Li content, but rather the color is due to the dominance of Mn3+ on Fe2+ in the absence of Fe3+ (Deer, WA, Howie, RA and Zussman, J. (1992) An Introduction to the Rock-Forming Minerals. 2 nd edition, Longman, 696 p., Hong Kong.).
