This post is hidden because you reported it for abuse. Show this postWe just invited a group of Android device users to download a beta version of an upcoming app update that features a fresh layout, a new homepage, improved search functionality, and more.
If you are in the beta test, please share all suggestions, questions, bug reports, and other communication through Instabug, which appears as a blue conversation bubble in the lower right-hand corner of every screen in the beta app.
Once we’ve concluded the beta, we will introduce an app update to all users. At that time, if you already have the app on your phone and are opted into automatic updates, you can expect the latest version to download based on your preferences.
We will continue to update this post with more information, including timelines for iOS and additional beta invites when available. The beta is only open to Android users at this time.
We are so excited to open the beta to more users, listen to your feedback, improve the overall app experience, and introduce this latest version to the entire Discogs community. -

This post is hidden because you reported it for abuse. Show this postYou also can't manage Orders that I can see, which is a pretty large omission from the app and makes it almost useless for me as a seller. Wish I'd known that before agreeing to test 🙁. I can't now see how to revert to the non-beta app. Help.
UPDATE: ok, you follow this link to get back to sanity/original app 🙂

As for the layout, I didn't like the shift from collectors app to a marketplace app. It was horrible actually. Please rethink about it again. -

Same here. The Instabug overlay has disappeared with the latest beta release and the toggle doesn’t work. I’m unable to provide feedback. -

I opted out as a beta tester and returned to the good old app.
I did the same, the beta was simply unusable for me, and not being able to give feedback (and nobody from official side answering here) made it pointless to further beta-test (or better alpha-test given the state of implementation, if even...). I hope they rethink some of the concepts for the new app, and I would be happy to contribute with feedback, but with no interest/interaction from staff beyond a release announcement I guess that is lost hope. -

This post is hidden because you reported it for abuse. Show this post dead_wax_music edited about 1 year agoI've been a beta tester for a little while now. Then I got updated to this. After testing it out, I had to opt out as a beta tester. I'm sorry, but this version of the app is a HUGE NO for me. There is almost nothing good to say about it. Fortunately, I am back on the non-beta app (never thought I'd say that) after uninstalling the beta app.
#1, and it's a huge #1: Why is everything to do with selling removed? This makes it a no start right from the get go. What is the point of a discography/marketplace app that doesn't allow management of your selling?
#2, and I think it's a huge #2: Why has the opening screen been changed from all of my info, my collection, my want list,......everything about ME, to a screen about what everyone else is collecting or maybe likes? I am using a discography app to look at MY STUFF, not everyone else's stuff. Even when I am selling, I'm looking up something in my possession. If I want to look at what others want or have, there are many better ways to do it. I just do not want that stuff thrown at me when I open the app. I want an opening screen that looks like how the non-beta app does.
#3: The UI is very, very slow compared to the existing app.
#4: I showed the beta app to 2 friends of mine that collect and sell records/cds/etc. Both use discogs on the web. Neither uses the app. After showing them the beta, they said that would guarantee they'd never install it on their phones. They did think the non-beta looked ok. However, if the beta is the direction the app is going, why waste their time installing the non-beta? Since that seems to indicate they would be forced onto the beta version eventually.
Edit: I don't want anyone to think I don't want something new and better, but it needs to be better. This wasn't it. It feels likes this is very Alpha. I don't feel like this should've been pushed out as Beta. -

This post is hidden because you reported it for abuse. Show this postI accidentally was updated to the beta I believe, can't give any specific feedback other than I was desperately trying to figure out how to revert back to the previous version of the app.
As a seller that often uses the Android app to research and buy and sell, it felt like it made all of that much harder to do.
If I was a casual user looking for the new Post Malone vinyl on teal and purple colored vinyl, it might have been nice.
Perhaps there needs to be an option to accept the "new look" or stick with the "old version?" I assume that's likely not viable, but I don't think old users should be forced into a new version with new look and new functionality.
Just my 2 cents. -

I think this captures my feelings almost exactly - many sellers and buyers use the app heavily due to the functionality of it. The changes seemed to strip away that functionality and replaced it with clunky casual usage.
Not a good tradeoff IMHO. -

This post is hidden because you reported it for abuse. Show this postGoing back to the old app, this beta is far from being usable. I can't access my inventory at all, besides from the public view of my profile, and from there I'm unable to edit anything.
Does this app not support seller functions at all????
I normally check my want list items for sale multiple times per hour, and all day today it showed the same results. And I couldn't tell when any of them were listed, doesn't show how long ago anymore.
And the price history for items doesn't lead anywhere, so I'm left with only the averages, no chart of precise amounts and descriptions.
Typing in the search bar doesn't show suggested results, slowing down the process of searching.
All in all, as many problems as I had with the old version, I'm dying to have it back right now. -

This post is hidden because you reported it for abuse. Show this post sebastiaanvandelaar edited about 1 year agoI thought as much that this is a beta, or is it an alpha? Is is highly unstable on my Android tablet, it keeps crashing after I have switched to another app and want to go back to discogs. I am unable to load my collection. And my biggest gripe is that there seems to be no functionality for me as a seller.
I have to agree that this ‘beta’ seems so far from a working release. I would have very much preferred Discogs to contact me and ask me if I’d be willing to partake in this beta, alongside access to the ‘old’ app.
Luckily I use Discogs on my iPhone as well, but that app differs wildly from the Android app. I hope you update that app as well, since it is VERY annoying it opens browser tabs for everything having to do with your inventory and selling.
To be brutally honest, with the fees Discogs takes from every sale, I’d say the functionality in this bera makes no sense business-wise. They should be focussing on optimising everything that has to do with the marketplace, as that is the primary source of income. -

This post is hidden because you reported it for abuse. Show this post mixytes edited about 1 year agoSmall feedback in this thread before I give more through the beta app:
The Instabug overlay bubble didn't appear for me until I went into the settings and toggled "Show Instabug overlay", even after I quit and restarted the app a few times. That setting was already toggled on but I had to retoggle it for it to show up. So if this is unintended then you might be inadvertently losing out on feedback if people aren't going to hunt in the options for that setting.
Edit: Now it does not appear for me even if I toggle it on and off anymore. So I will just say here that the new app is disappointing given the features removed from the previous version and the performance needs an overhaul when working with large collections. I hope the team takes the advice they've seen so far to reassure us that at least reaching feature parity with the old app is planned. -

I was enjoying the new fixes to the Beta and was keen to continue trialling it.
I left the beta program, uninstalled and then reinstalled the standard app and then went back to sign up to Beta but it still will not change back over.

The_Woanderer about 1 year ago
This post is hidden because you reported it for abuse. Show this postAfter some time using the beta and liking some of the changes, I have to be honest and say that I've quickly lost interest in it. The new home page gets boring very quickly. Not enough information or interesting articles to warrant being a landing page. I'm not interested in what others are collecting,
* a seller would be.
I don't feel like it is as personal as the original app where I opened up and was faced with my collection... Something I'm proud of and that I've put a lot of time and energy into creating over the years. The feeling of 'My Discogs' has gone. I don't need to search directly after viewing the landing page that shows what everyone else is buying
* A seller would of course
Viewing my wantlist. I'm 50/50 on that as the 3rd tab... I generally would have viewed my collection first though I feel this is not too serious a concern for most.
* A seller might, I'm not entirely sure on that.
My Collection is last in line, and as I said before... For me. I would want to see this first. As that initial sense of achievement in my collection would give me that boost to possibly seek out my next great deal and add to my collection. That sense I get also seems to raise my interest in reading articles. Not sure why that happens but I'm very aware that in the old version of the app, that this was something I definitely did.
* A seller would probably be happy enough having their collection last in the list as they are here to sell so maybe don't feel the sense of achievement I do (and others?) as a collector. Their sense of achievement would come from sales.
In short it feels as though the new app is geared towards sellers?
Others may feel differently from me... This is purely what I take from using the beta.
There is a lot I do like, features I can see that are there but I've not used yet. The ease in grading my albums and leaving notes on them for example.
I dislike having to change my collection to view small covers every time I use the app, I'm only interested in the details of an album if I select said album... But choosing small covers pushes albums off the screen so I can't see them or select them.
The last album in my wantlist is covered by the UI so if there was an available version to buy, the link is under the UI at the bottom of the screen.
All in all, it feels far more like eBay. And collecting and catalogueing has been cast aside.
Naturally/Obviously it is great that the features for sellers do exist in the way they do as we collectors purchase from said sellers but I do think a reshift in placement of the features would help to bring that level of personalisation back to the app.
I also realise this is a Beta and is likely to change (maybe? Who knows) and sadly no matter what they decide we don't have many options in the world of cataloguing our collections, so may end up just being stuck with this.
One thing I find odd is that in the old version of the app, I did tend to read articles more. I find I'm simply skipping past the landing page now and not even bothering to see if there was something of interest, my loss? Potentially... but a true vocalisation of my behaviours.
I must end by at least acknowledging the Devs on what they have done so far, there certainly are some lovely improvements and I'm certain there will be folk who are happy with the current version of the beta.
At the end of the day, it is what it is 🙏 -

This post is hidden because you reported it for abuse. Show this postthe obvious fault from my point of view is that there seems to be a limit imposed on the amount of collection folders. I file most of my collection by composer or artist and so I probably have too many folders. Nevertheless, it is useful for some things. The app continues to be a dumpster fire. I tolerated the finicky issues with it before, I usually have a pretty high tolerance for bugs and glitches, but this app is just something else.

This post is hidden because you reported it for abuse. Show this postPlease note: I've been compiling this list for several months so a couple of these issues may have already been corrected/implemented.
• CONSTANTLY SIGNING INTO APP. Having to sign in every couple of times I open the app is annoying.
• APP DOESN'T OPEN ON THE FIRST TRY. When first opening the app, I ALWAYS have to select it twice. The 1st time I select it, it looks like it's about to open then it immediately closes.
• WANTLIST & COLLECTION WON'T LOAD. Constantly shows "Loading 0%". I have to exit the app & re-enter. Happens frequently.
• DARK MODE. Please make this an option.
• ALLOW USER PREFERENCES FOR SORTING. I have to sort my collection/wantlist every time I open the app.
• VIEWING SALES DATA. Unable to view most recent sale info of a specific record on Sale Page/Order History (ex: "Last sold on Oct 1st" but details of that sale isn't shown).
• BRING BACK THE BAR GRAPH. Unable to view sales info in bar graph form as in previous app. It's a nice visual showing the trends in sale price.
• IMPLEMENT A "FAVORITES" BUTTON. This would eliminate having to search for a specific listing I'm interested in every time I open the app (NO, I don't want to add it to my cart).
• ALLOW SELLERS TO UPLOAD PHOTOS. When I first joined Discogs, I didn't realize it was taboo to request photos of the actual item being sold. In looking at forums, I noticed some sellers mention they would ignore requests for photos -- in my experience, most sellers are rude when I request photos which is why I still prefer to purchase from eBay. And, yes, certain sellers will embellish the condition of the record, so adding photos of the actual item being sold would help.
• ALLOW NEGOTIATION/COUNTEROFFERS BETWEEN POTENTIAL BUYER & SELLER. Only being able to make 1 offer on an item and, if declined, not being able to make another offer is absurd. It hurts both the buyer AND the seller.
• SORTING. When sorting by price, shipping should be included in the total sorted dollar amount (this happens for USD listings but not listings in foreign currency).
• LIST DATE. No longer shows when an item was listed. Helps in knowing what to offer (when offers are available), especially when that item has been for sale for a long time. (This info only available on the website).
• FILTERS. Should have separate "Condition" categories for "Media" and "Sleeve." (eBay also has a separate "Inlay" category). ADD MORE FILTERS!
• BROWSING SELLER INVENTORY. Add filters (including format & genre). When browsing through thousands of items it would be nice to narrow down to my interests instead of having to scroll through each one.
• ARTIST PAGE ERROR. When on Artist's page, select "View Full Discography" and 0 items are listed.
• INSTABUG. I have to toggle off the Instabug Overlay in App Settings every time I open the app.
• FRIENDS LIST. I receive a "Critical Error" message & app shuts down when trying to view Friends List in my profile.
• MY COLLECTION. While browsing by Artist, when pressing the specific letter (off to the right side), the collection doesn't jump to the Artists starting with that letter. Instead, it'll jump to a random letter.
• WANTLISTER. Make available on app.
Not on app (only available on website):
• WANTLISTER DISCREPANCIES. Wantlister won't send real-time notifications unless at least 1 artist is selected (option is grayed out), despite the instructions of "Leave blank for all artists." However, there's a maximum of 20 artists that can be selected. I would prefer to select as many (or all) artists from my Wantlist as I choose. -
