Q4OS; SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad not working on Lenovo X220 ThinkPad
Figured it out ( i guess ).
What made the touchpad functional at the end, was to boot with a psmouse specific protocol. That is, to modify the GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT line of /etc/defaults/grub.
