I have several computers that I switch between using a KVM. One of them in particular experience frequent KWin crashes (which tends to incur collateral damage) whenever I switch between machines. The problem seems to be related to "thinking" that displays have been disconnected and reconnected.

These are "static" systems; the actual display configuration almost never changes. I'm aware of EDID emulation, but I'd prefer to start with attempting a software before spending $30+ on hardware that may or may not fix the issue (especially as the total cost would be more like $100+; the lower value is adding emulators to only one machine to see if it helps). Is there a way to prevent Wayland/KDE/KWin from responding to "changes"?

(Note: this is basically the same as How do I stop KDE from changing my screen resolution?, but that information is no longer correct.)
