I am currently going through the process of upgrading my Linux Mint 21.3 system to 22. The process is halted by a foreign package:

Upgrade Tool Window

When I press the fix button it loads Foreign Packages then returns me to this same screen. I tried downgrading the package through software sources and it give me the output:

Software Sources

I also accidentally closed the upgrade tool, can I reopen it without restarting the whole thing? How can I fix the Foreign Package issue? If I have to Restart the process then it is what it is.

Edit: I have reopened the upgrade tool without issue.

Temporarily remove shim-signed and grub-efi-amd64-signed. Then let the upgrade reinstall all 3 properly versioned. Since grub is the bootloader the upgrade should recalculate the dependencies when you restart it. Commented Jan 21 at 18:24
  • Unfortunately I messed up and canceled the update and restarted my computer instead of backing up the last snapshot. I fried my Os and opted instead to use a live ISO to format my drive and install the latest verson. Commented Feb 3 at 3:35

Sorry to hear that... I'm glad you're back up and running. Commented Feb 3 at 16:25
