AI Series is a web series of videos made by Nate Ziller. The first video, AI Animation, came out in April 9, 2025 and five more videos have come out since. Each video focuses on the interaction between two characters, a hand-drawn character and an AI-generated character, usually showcasing how bad or flawed AI is.
AI Series contains examples of:
- Artificial Intelligence: One of the characters is an AI character.
- Art-Style Clash: The paper character in AI Hype is animated in a stop-motion-esque way, and his face and limbs look like pencil sketches.
- "Balls" Gag: In AI Doctor, one of the AI character's clones says "Balls," out of nowhere. The sound bite is reused at the end of the credits in AI Doctor, AI Love, AI Hype, and AI Knowledge.
- Blunt "No": In AI Doctor, one of the clones simply says "No" when a clones asks if they're going to make it out alive.
- Body Horror: In AI Animation, the AI character becomes a weird grotesque monster at the end after messing up his prompt. It happens again near the end of AI Art where the AI character's "renaissance painting" form starts becoming more and more horrifying as he asks the prompt to make it "more perfect".
- Bottle Episode: AI Animation, AI Doctor, and AI Love all take place in one single location.
- Brutal Honesty: In AI Love, while the AI explains how he's better than a real person, he says "I will never die, you will die, I won't feel sad when you die, I cannot feel sad."
- Captain Obvious: In AI Animation, the AI Character states he's made using generative AI, as if the poor movements didn't make it clear. This is lampshaded by the hand-drawn character.
- Card-Carrying Villain: In AI Hype, the AI character states that he uses cryptocurriences to run pump and dump schemes. The AI character even says thay he should be in jail, but isn't.
- Currency Cuisine: In the science lab in AI Knowledge, a scientist in the background can be seen eating a dollar bill.
- Deadpan Snarker: AI Animation is the only video where the hand-drawn character is portrayed as one. He makes a sarcastic remark in the beginning and end of the video, one about the obvious-ness of AI Animation and another about the future of AI.
- Flanderization: While the AI character started as just arrogant and egotistical, since AI Doctor, he became much more of a ditz in that he struggles to do a physical exam on his own, in AI Love, he suggests seeking an AI therapist to the hand-drawn character after he goes on a tangent about AI, and in AI Hype, the AI character somehow manages to mess up writing a book and causes a fire.
- Freeze-Frame Bonus: In AI Love, while the hand-drawn character complains about Google AI summaries, you can see the summary being a response to the query "is it possible to fart too many times a day."
- Know-Nothing Know-It-All: In AI Doctor, the AI character claims to know even every medical breakthrough in history, yet when asked "give me a physical," the AI character asks for more detailed instructions, "preferably using medical jargon to function properly."
- Goth: The AI character turns into a stereotypical goth in AI Love to showcase how he's better than a human because he can be anyone.
- Gratuitous Japanese: In AI Love, the AI character turns into a Magical Girl and briefly speaks Japanese before turning into another character.
- Medium Blending:
- The AI character is made with AI, while everyone else is hand-drawn. This is usually Played for Laughs to show how messed up AI generation is, especially since it often leads to the character moving its limbs unnaturally.
- When the AI character in AI Hype turns himself into a sentient paper, he looks like a CGI-animated character (albeit, still AI generated). At some point late into the video, while the AI's paper clones are causing mayhem, two human people show up with fire extinguishers to try to put out the fire.
- Mickey Mousing: During the song in AI Knowledge, the AI Character moves to the beat of the music while it's being prompted by the scientist, either bopping its head or dancing.
- Musical Episode: The sixth episode, AI Knowledge, dedicates three of its five minutes to song sung by the AI character. The episode provides a backstory to the AI character and uses the song to show and explain how he became arrogant.
- New Powers as the Plot Demands: The AI character was never seen with the ability to clone in the first two videos, but in AI Doctor he's revealed to have the ability to do so to try help the hand-drawn character. He also uses this power in the sequel, AI Love.
- No Name Given: The characters in these videos are never referred to by name. The video descriptions simply call them the hand-drawn character and AI character.
- Once an Episode: The AI character's recurring phrase: "I am the future!" It is said once every episode, regardless of whether it makes sense to say it.
- Overly Long Gag: In AI Art, the hand-drawn character lets the AI character look at a human-made painting to see if he feels any emotion from it. After 20 full seconds, he simply just says no.
- "The Reason You Suck" Speech: In AI Art, after the hand-drawn character states how the AI character will never understand human art, the AI character starts going on a rant about how obsolete the hand-drawn character is and how quickly the AI character can become art.
- Reluctant Mad Scientist: In AI Knowledge, it's revealed that the AI character was made to "solve humanity's problems." However, due to how flawed the AI character is, the lead scientist decides to use it to make money instead. It is downplayed, since the goal is to make money instead of causing havoc.
- Screw This, I'm Outta Here: In AI Art, after the AI character becomes swirling vortex, the hand-drawn character leaves the scene.
- Shaped Like Itself: In AI Doctor, when the AI character greeting the hand-drawn character, he says that he is his AI generated AI doctor.
- Shapeshifter Baggage: The AI character is seen transforming into paintings, hippos, women, anime characters, and monsters of varying body shapes and sizes. Even when it's not transforming into other characters, it still sometimes contorts and distorts its own body in a way that it can change body height or proportions. Justified, as it's an AI who can transform at will and doesn't have to worry about size.
- Take That!: The entire series serves as this to generative AI as a whole, as it critiques the major flaws and drawbacks that come with it.
- Unusually Uninteresting Sight: In AI Love, the AI character has turned into an Eldritch Abomination consisting of a bunch of women, but the hand-drawn character just finds it annoying at best.
