- Creator Killer: Director Joseph Kahn, a music video director who before the film was expected to emerge as the next Michael Bay, wouldn't make another feature film for seven years after the flop of this film. (And for good measure, that next film of his, the 2011 teen slasher parody Detention, features a strong Take That! to Torque.) Producer Neal Moritz barely managed to make it out in one piece.
- The Foreign Subtitle: the Italian title is Torque - circuiti di fuoco (fire circuits).
- Star-Derailing Role:
- Martin Henderson, then an up-and-coming actor thanks to his role in The Ring and who played the lead role, saw his career reduced to bit parts, straight-to-video films, and TV shows which lasted one season. He only started enjoying a small comeback in The New '10s, thanks to roles on TV such as on Grey's Anatomy and Virgin River.
- It also killed the career of model-turned actress Monet Mazur, who played the lead female role, who had a minor supporting presence on film beforehand. After a few more ill-received-films after this, she hasn't appeared in a theatrical release since 2009. She later landed a slight hit on TV with All American, however.
- Similar to Mazur's case, Jaime Pressly, while known mostly as a Ms. Fanservice at the time, did have a presence as a supporting actress beforehand in comedy films such as Joe Dirt and Not Another Teen Movie. This film (seemingly going for a Playing Against Type angle since she plays a Dark Action Girl) seemed to completely tank her film career (and DOA: Dead or Alive two years later just finished the job), but she apprently took the right lessons from the first two movies, as she has since then a successful career in comedy roles but on television, most famously in My Name Is Earl.
