- Much like with its predecessor, the announcement trailer for this game
is a full-fledged pastiche of the 2014 trailer for the long-unreleased Dead Island 2, also being titled "Goat Simulator 3" — i.e. there's no "Goat Simulator 2". - The intro is a direct nod to the infamous cart ride Intro from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim; you "wake up" in a cart of goats in first-person view pulled by a tractor driven by a farmer who goes "Hey! You're finally awake!". The farmer even tells you to get off of his "Skyrim cart" at the end. It also pokes fun of the Skyrim intro's length by likewise lasting 3 minutes and having the farmer call it a "way-too-long intro".
- A bunch of accessories Pilgor can wear (or, in the case of bodies, assume) are a reference to something:
- "Rare Hair" is a long, purple and curly mane, and the description goes "Oh darling! You look absolutely stunning!", referencing Rarity the unicorn.
- Tony Shark's description is "You're gonna need a bigger board".
- The "Sailor" hat's description is "What shall we do with the broncin' sailor?", referencing the "Drunken Sailor" shanty.
- The Pridesaber 2.0 is outright a triple-pronged lightsaber from the Star Wars franchise. The event that unlocks it is titled "Imperial Mausoleum" and requires you to play the melody from the Imperial March.
- The description of the simply titled "Braid" is "Let it flow", alluding to the song "Let it go". The braid is also shaped like Elsa's hair.
- The "Safari Overall" has a description of "Doctor Livingoat, I presume".
- The "Fallout Boi" suit is a homage to Fallout, also having "Goat. Goat never changes" as its description.
- The Tracksuit's description is "Let's get physical", referencing the song "Physical" by Olivia Newton-John which has it as a lyric line.
- The Celestial Wings reference Red Bull's tagline, replacing the word "Red Bull" with "Heaven".
- Big Brother — aside from referencing the reality show of the same name — is also shaped after the Eye of Sauron. Its ability is idle dialogue, and one of the lines it may say is "Is that a ring I see".
- The "Spotted" fur claims "it took 101 dalmatians to make this fur".
- The "fur" (or, more accurately, skin) for Steve, titled "Magic Carp", features a red body, white fins, and a yellow dorsal fin. The description is "I choose you!". It's a reference to Magikarp.
- The "Tuumba" fur for Tasty Goat (read: pig) is brown, and the description is "Hakuna MaƱana".
- "Bug Bunny" is a reference to Bugs Bunny, also doubling as a Pun by being a literal "bug" bunny (in this case, "bug" as in "glitchy").
- The quest "Free Billy" is named after Free Willy and, like in the movie, features an orca to be saved (though this orca is squashed into a cube).
- Some of the seemingly random people are fashioned after characters or even real people. For example, Simon Cowbell is a reference to Simon Cowell, and the NPCs near the "Fast Car" and "Furious Car" (themselves referencing The Fast and the Furious) are named after Tom Doretto from Greenhouse and (Rick) O'Connell from The Mummy (1999).
- Launching the nuke into the cherry tree in Suburbsville causes it to crash without exploding, after which it starts playing a countdown sound that alternates between two tones each time. Hitting the nuke causes it to go off, unlocking the Fallout Boi suit and completing the quest with a subtitle of "Kim Jong Oops".
- In the San Angora Zoo, Rosie's animal pen contains a rock formation fashioned after Pride Rock. In addition, the zoo's restaurant is called "Proud Rock" and has lion statues decorating it.
- The so-called "whistleblowers" seen on Downtown each whistle the theme for Twisted Nerve, itself a reference to Kill Bill: Volume One, where Elle is heard whistling the theme.
