Alternate for converting string to base64 without using Buffer in Node js

Question

I am using Buffer to convert a string to Base64 encoded in one of the cloud function and during bulk processing,this base64 encoding is taking 15 seconds to convert a string into base64 encoded.

Buffer.from(JSON.stringify(msgBody)).toString('base64')) 

Is there any alternate available in Node js to convert a string to base64 instead of using Buffer. The cloud function is using otto as the JavaScript interpreter in their back end and that is why it is taking time.
