Scala Editor in Eclipse doesn't work

Question

I installed the latest version of Scala IDE for Eclipse

Now I try to open a .scala.html file with the Scala editor and it says Failed to create the part's controls with the errors detailed below. The troubleshoot says enable JDT weaving, which is already enabled.

I have also tried adding Scala nature to the project it does nothing.

How can I edit .scala.html files in Eclipse? This is an essential task when developing Play application so I'm looking for an alternative if there is no fix.

Take this advice, use IntelliJ IDEA 13 community edition. Or if you prefer to use eclipse, then stick to ScalaIDE. — Nafiul Islam

@david Yeah I have quite a few plugins installed, are there any in particular that might interfere? Eclipse is Version: 4.2.1 Build id: M20120914-1800 and jdk1.7.0_45. — user2787904

I suggest to start using the ScalaIDE plugins on a clean installation of Eclipse and add only the plugins needed for Scala develop. I also found some unpredictable interference between ScalaIDE and other plugins such as HTML editor of WTP or POM editor of m2e plugin. — Marco

Do you have both the Scala IDE and Play plugin installed? In the Scala IDE update site, the Play plugin appears under the Incubation category.

If you do not need to reuse an existing Eclipse installation, the simplest way to get started is to use a pre-packaged bundle of Scala IDE, which is an Eclipse installation with all the required plugins pre-installed, including Play. You can download the right one for your platform here.
