It’s a role reversal of the usual of the staff reacting to customers being unreasonable.
Poor Marla. She’s so used to being screamed at by customers over stupid things that are beyond her control that she expects it from everyone. She doesn’t know how to deal with a reasonable customer.
To the uninitiated, yes a majority customers actually do fly into a screeching rage and make death threats over mundane and trivial inconveniences, and some of them even try to follow through on those threats
