Additional Appearances

Granny Fanny Nesselrode has a letter from one Mr. J.M. Charles of East Winesap, Minnesota. He wishes to know why she never answers when he calls her on the telephone. At that moment, her phone begins to ring. However, Granny Fanny's interpretation of answering the phone is trying to talk directly at the device.

Her announcer tells her that she needs to pick it up to answer it, so she picks up the whole phone. She learns that she only needs to pick up the receiver and starts looking inside for the caller, then speaks into the wrong end. When she finally gets it right, all she hears is a dial tone (which she thinks is a singer humming on the other end). In order to receive another call, she must hang up. She's instructed to put the receiver back down on the phone (rather than on the table as she attempts).

The phone suddenly rings again and Granny Fanny slowly makes sure she answers it properly this time. However, once the call comes through, she only offers a simple "Hello" before hanging up again. As this starts to happen again, her announcer closes the program.
