Summer Wars: Kazuma | you broke my brain

In a word, "daaaaaamn"...

So, to quote a friend...

LJ has bent us over the proverbial prison shower one too many times. It's time to catch them in the laundryroom and shank the bitch.

By which I mean... as an RPer and a long time user I am one of many who really don't like the direction LJ is going, and seeing as all of my RP games are moving OFF to Dreamwidth, well... Time to bite the bullet.

There's a lot of things I could go in to regarding all this... really. A LOT. But honestly I'm just tired of dealing with it... I understand that there are still those who just won't or don't care about the changes, but as a long time RPer it's not a site that's going to continue to lend itself to games.

Anyway...

I doubt I'll do any cross posting. I think it's time to just rip the bandaid off and go. But I will gladly follow anyone who follows me there, and hopefully can catch up with anyone who's made the move as well.

It's been 9 crazy, amazing, horrifying, exhilarating years, but it's time to roll up the ol' journal mat and move it along.

Goodbye, LJ! Good luck screwing yourself over!

100 Day Music Challenge : Day 9 and 10

Crap! I missed a day! Here's a two in one. Also hoping everyone had a good Fourth!

Day 9: A childhood memory T.V. theme tune

Rocko's Modern Life. I STILL love this show, as dated as it is now.

Day 10: A song from one of your favorite albums

It feels a bit like I'm cheating since Alcehmy Vol 1 by Poets of the Fall is technically a greatest hits, BUT they did include two new songs. And while Can You Hear Me is just wonderful, the lyrics to No End, No Beginning just strike me so much deeper. I think its the "I'm secretly grateful you're sharing this moment with me" that hits me the hardest.

Mmm Poets.

100 Day Music Challenge : Day 8

8. A song you used to love but now hate

Urg. That's difficult for me because there's so little that I actually "hate", and generally it takes me hating it from the start.

... I think this is kind of cheating because I can't honestly remember if I DID like it or not, but... in my defense, I was like. Four. I probably did like it until all the name jokes started cropping up.

4. A song you can remember your parents listening to

Pretty Maids All in a Row - The Eagles

One of my dad's favorite albums when I was growing up was the Eagles: Hell Freezes Over album. There are so many songs I could pick just from that band alone, and most people probably at the very least know Hotel California (which was featured on the album as it was their reunion tour) but as much as I love that song... honestly my favorite is a toss up between New York Minute and Pretty Maids All in a Row.

And since I actually used this once in an RP setting as one character singing it to another in a lullaby... I'uno, this one just speaks to me a little more than New York Minute did when I was a kid.

Day 3! Wee!

3. A song that reminds you of a night out

I'm On a Boat - The Lonely Island

Okay, stay with me here. Just close your eyes and picture this.

A tiny 5'4" blonde girl in glasses, in a karaoke booth in Seattle, Washington, singing this.

It happened.

A couple of years ago mellonemrys  and I went up to Seattle to visit my sister, Koto and go to a small anime convention called ChibiChibiCon. The first night there Koto rented a karaoke booth for us in downtown, which included getting us and our various friends and cohorts alcohol. About halfway through the night Koto saw that "I'm On A Boat" was on there and, giggling the entire way, put it in for her turn. And she did it. The whole song. Swears and everything. It was BEAUTIFUL.

The best thing?

The machine glitched and played it TWICE. By the end we were all in to it. It was ridiculous and so much fun.

100 Day Music Challenge : Day 2

2.  A song from the first album you ever bought.

Ahahaha... ohman... this. This going to date me.

The first album I ever bought... you ready for this? Are you?

The first album I ever bought myself with my own money was..

The soundtrack to SpaceJam.

Yup. I was thirteen. I WANTED the soundtrack to Dangerous Minds but it had that damn parental warning on it and I couldn't get it, so I settled for one of my other favorite movies which was, at the time, SpaceJam. Crazy, right?

Anyway... it wasn't a BAD album perse but it wasn't the best music either. Of course I think EVERYONE who was around during that time remembers how Fly Like An Eagle (remade by Seal) and I Believe I Can Fly were on the radio CONSTANTLY because of it. So... I'll spare those songs and pick something else.

I honestly liked the Monstar's Theme (Hit 'em High) a lot. It's one of the few off the album I still listen to besides the title song and Fly Like An Eagle. Plus the video isn't horrible! And yes I have it on iTunes now. :P I'm a dork.
