who drabble: kairos

Title: kairos
Chronology: post JE
Characters: Human Doctor (10.5, Handy ...), Rose
Rating: G
Notes: The first time I've managed to keep a piece at exactly 100 words. An experiment with the human!Doctor as test subject. My use of [] inspired by anon_j_anon, whose new piece That Which Survives ought to be required reading for the Star Trek fandom.

[The decisive moment came; came threatening to flee, but he was decisive. Kairos: the time in-between, everlasting and yet already past. The decision fell. Now. Now, a chance could be forfeited.]

He wouldn't hesitate to rid the universe of the Daleks again, if given the chance, and no moralising, teleological, Time Lord view of things will ever change his mind. There is no necessary reason for good to come of evil, he tells Rose, who simply shrugs. Once, she might have disagreed.

Time is no longer his to control, but a virtual, fleeting construct of his all-too human brain.
