OOPS IT'S BEEN A WHILE still playing Tomodachi Life, wanna post about a few smaller things that have been going on before I throw a billion caps at you, haha.
There was a NEW EVENT in Pokemon Masters where Larry and Kabu go to the hot springs together!! Kabu explicitly invites him and Larry's like I'd like that :) and then they just hang out together for the rest of the event and IT'S SO CUTE. HOW DOES THIS SHIP KEEP GIVING ME NEW STUFF TO WORK WITH
As a result I've updated the KABLARRY page with the new event script and some other things, haha.
I also finished a new fic for them! Man how did I do my fic headers, let's see...
It's mostly silly, I had a lot of fun writing Larry freaking out internally over everything, although the ending gets a bit angsty. |D I do enjoy writing light-hearted silly things, haha. And it's before they get together! Most fic has them together already so it was fun to have something in that before period where they're just pining.
What I love is that Larry is screaming internally but outwardly apart from the blushing he's acting and saying things very normally. DOES KABU SUSPECT SOMETHING? DOES HE NOTICE... WHO CAN SAY...
Edgar and Scriabin have been popping in and out of the back of my mind, mostly spurred on by how sysig is doing drawings for every chapter as they do a reread. :D Really gets me thinking about them again, haha. Mostly I've been poking at their ghost again... I stalled out on the punch pose for Scriabin cause I didn't like how it was coming out and got distracted, but I went back to revisit it a bit lately. I also went and filled out a lot of extra dialogue for them, like for changing your clock or checking your email, things like that. Very small things and Scriabin doesn't do any of them, he just mocks you, but they're easy things to fill out and it's nice to get some of it done, even if it's just little steps forward. Each bit as a little bit further!
Since I was thinking about ghost stuff though and I recently did this cute Gimmecat sprite
, I remembered that a while back I made a super tiny simple ghost I called Little Sprites. It was mostly a sub-page on my TF2 site since it only had my Soldier/Demoman sprites and the Spycrab that I made, haha. Essentially it just has the sprite on your desktop with some very limited functionality. You could double-click Soldier or Demoman to make them rocket/sticky jump for example, or put them close to each other to have them kiss, but otherwise they don't say or do anything. It's a good ghost to just keep open if you want a teeny little guy in the corner of your screen you can poke at every now and then. Maybe a bit specialized but still, sometimes you just want to decorate your screen! Nothing too big or complicated!
Each sprite in the ghost is a different shell for it, so I made one for the Gimmecat using some of Zi's code for making ghosts wander. So now the Gimmecat will wander around a little on your desktop while you have it open! It's super cute, it reminds me of shimejis, haha. Since these shells are so simple and easy to make, I also added the one with Edgar and Scriabin with Scri hovering behind him semi-transparently, and the one with Larry and Kabu where Larry hugs him to recharge. All very simple little things but I enjoy them! Anyway I made a solo page for the ghost now if you want to pick them up. If you understand very basic SERIKO shell coding, you could probably make a simple shell for this ghost of your own if you want. :B I dunno if anyone will want to but if so I could add like double-click functionality if there's something specific you have in mind, it'd take me like two seconds. Probably. idk I'm probably counting my chickens before they hatch.
I've spent a lot of the past days doing various bug fixes and fiddling with Edgar and Scriabin. In fact I just got distracted from this entry for like an hour because SSP updated with a new functionality for the Surfacetest, meaning I could name intervals in it! I assume that's gibberish to all of you BUT what it meant tangibly was that it did kick up a bunch of errors with Edgar and Scriabin's shell that weren't there before, so I had to do some clean-up. They're working again... for now.
I've been experimenting with the Interval Stacker that Zi and Levi made as well to see if I can add little QOL features and stuff, just things I'd find useful personally. I dunno if anyone but me uses the Stacker since my shells are so stupidly complicated and this tool is like designed just for shells in that style. |D BUT anyway, I did learn a few interesting things about the Stacker that will be useful in the future! I also spent a lot of time chasing bugs and breaking things as well which wasn't great and felt like a huge waste of time. In the end I do have it in a place where I'm happy with it and I think the process will speed up a lot! Although I haven't really tested it myself in practice yet since I need to finish the frames for the new animations... well even breaking stuff can teach you things in the end, haha.
One thing is that I got it so the Stacker can read multiple surfaces files, which means I can split off Edgar's poses from Scriabin's poses, which cuts down a ton on size and makes it way easier to find the right place to add a new pose or find an old one for either of them since I don't have to scroll through the other's.

It's fun to do coding for them since I can just be mean about everything lol.

Title: In Your Wake
Words: 12.3 K
Rating: G
Fandom: Pokemon Masters
Pairings: Larry/Kabu
Warnings: None I can think of
Summary: "The hot tubs?" Kabu said, a momentary blip in his good mood. "Aren't you going to come in?"
At that point, Larry made one of the worst mistakes of his life.
"Oh, no, I can't swim," Larry said, his face entirely neutral as the awful words came out of his mouth before he could stop them. He knew, instantly, what was going to happen, and he was helpless to do anything about it as it played out.
"I could teach you!"
