Even So is BONNIE PINK's seventh album, released in 2004. It charted for eleven weeks, and reached it's peak at position #4.
BONNIE PINK is a thirty-two year old Japanese singer, who debuted in 1995 with 'Blue Jam'. Her real name is Kaori Asada.
----REVIEW TIME :D----
The album opens with the single track 'Private Laughter'. It's a dark track, and the backgroud-computerized voices are...unnerving? Kaori's vocals are very crisp, and the song is just...wow. The lyrics are also wow XD (Note: lyrics from 'Even So' can be found at Kiwi-Musume.com) It's the shortest song on the album, but it's very catchy, and very emotional. It's dark atmosphere provides a great premise to the rest of the album!
The next track is titled 'Ocean'.This song sounds great on my CD player and dull on my computer! I really like the effects used on Kaori-sama's voice in the song, but the song itself is just average to me, it's a great track compared to alot of the crap out there being released by other artists, but BONNIE PINK can do better. Still, this track manages to be dark and comforting at the same time, and I give it props for that! (Plus y'know...the lyrics...)
The third track 'New Dawn' is a really optimistic song! Kaori excersises her falsetto, and the lyrics and melody really put me in a nice mood~ The claps in the background music set a nice atmosphere for the song too. I really like this one because it's mid-tempo AND catchy, optimistic AND calming. The bridge is the fastest paced part of the song, but is regrettably short.
The next track was used in the anime 'Gantz' and is a well-known BONNIE PINK song thanks to Gantz. '5 more minutes' is catchy and mid-tempo. The percussion and guitar really add to the song. The bridge is fast-paced, and Kaori sings at a lower pitch during it. It's quite an enjoyable song- though I fear I make it sound boring thanks to my lack of commentary XD
Oh god, track five is so...wow. I mean wow. 'The Answer ~Hitotsu No Naru Toki~' is a face paced, dark track, that's both emotional and incredibly catchy. The effects used on Kaori's voice during the opening are really cool and similar to those used in Ocean. Kaori sings at a lower pitch, which adds to it's dark atmosphere<3 And the lyrics, ohmygod the lyrics! The lyrics are just...amazing. This song was just average to me at first, but it's sooo addictive. I love it like heck.
Track six, 'I Just Want You to Be Happy' uses light instrumentation and the music combines with BONNIE PINK's vocals effectively to create a melancholy acoustic ballad- something BONNIE PINK is known for. The song is completely in english, and the lyrics are simple, but create a melancholy remorseful atmosphere along with the music and vocals. Kaori's voice comes off strongly in this song as well.
Ohhhh, track seven, track seven! I ADORE 'Mint'. It's remorseful but upbeat, sometimes rock-like. It's in English, and the chorus features an upbeat saxophone (? I'm assuming it's saxophone, or at least some form of brass) addition. This adds a jazz element to the song, and BONNIE PINK succesfully combines the jazz element and the rock element. Case in point, this song is a minty fresh treat<3/horrible pun
1・ 2・3 is probably the weakest track in the album. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad song, it just can't hold a candle to rest of the songs. Admittedly, the choice to use the hook from 'Physical' was ingenious (my mom heard this song and immediately screamed 'PHYSICAL!!'). The song is also very catchy, it's just incredibly average compared to the rest of the tracks.
After 1・ 2・3, the next track, Last Kiss sounds even more fantastic. Let's see, this track was used as the ending to the anime Gantz, and it's just beautiful. It's got very lovely from Kaori, and the most calming but amazing string arrangement in the background. It contains a very subtle haunting quality, and it's really just beautiful. No more comments. Just beautiful. End of story.
'Walk With You' has a very soothing, sweet atmosphere. It's midtempo, and has some interesting techno-ey beats at the beginning. It's very pleasant and calming.
'Jinsei Game' is more of a rock track. Great guitar riffs, and nice vocals from Kaori. The lyrics are...well, you can guess how the lyrics are. Awesome.
The final track, 'Bedtime Story' is a masterpiece. It opens with some acappella vocals from Kaori, and her vocals are sad, beautiful and really stand out. Than the instrumentation comes in and so on. The song is completely in english, and desptie being sad and remorseful, it's also comforting in it's own sad way.
Concluding this review, 'Even So' is amazing. Unlike 'let go' it features a much darker atmosphere, in fact, alot more atmosphere in general. Every song is beautiful, and it's just an awesome album. Worth every dollar spent.

IMPORTANT NOTE!! I feel like a hypocrite saying this (y'know, considering my consistency in deleting my own crapola), but please at least make an effort to delete these after 48 hours. And do support BONNIE PINK by buying her music! Because it is against the law to mooch you know ;D
Also, do comment if you download. I worked very hard writing this review and uploading these files, and I'd appreciate some recognition~
