Activation condition

An activation condition, also known as its activation requirement, is the set of conditions that must be met in order to activate a card or effect.

Unless otherwise specified, the activation conditions only need to be satisfied when the card is activated, not when it resolves.

On cards with Problem-Solving Card Text, the activation condition is written before a colon, at the start of a card effect. On Skill Cards, the activation condition is instead printed on the back of the card.[1]

ExamplesEdit

Example breakdownEdit

Player A controls "Elemental Mistress Doriado" and activates "Fuh-Rin-Ka-Zan". Player B chains "Raigeki Break" to destroy "Elemental Mistress Doriado". Even though by the time "Fuh-Rin-Ka-Zan" resolves its activation condition cannot be met, it still resolves because the condition was met when the card was activated.
