- Fun fact: this tradition started in 1646 at RAF Luton when a Sopwith Spitfire hosted the inaugural inter-squadron volleyball competition. After 71.75 hours of play, No8 squadron won by 4 overs👍
- Sometimes I don’t get the joke with these. But surely that’s tennis?
- Volleyball replaced curling as the official RAF wing-walking sport after sweeper Austen ‘Landcrab’ Vanden-Plas sustained a sprained ankle when the Spitfires of 8008 Sqn were scrambled (sorry Sophie) mid-match during the Battle of Stevenage in 1956.
