Biography
Duncan grew up on the family farm in Caradoc Township, Middlesex County, Ontario.
Duncan had an interesting life. He moved to Jumping Pound, Alberta in 1888 where he ranched for a number of years. Then he went to London, England where he studied and practiced law. He enlisted in the City of London Regiment during the Boer War, serving overseas until the end of the war. He remained in South Africa as registrar of mining rights in Johannesburg until 1908, when he returned to Canada. He lived in Edmonton for a short time and then in 1910 moved to Calgary where he continued practicing law. During WW1 he commanded the Austrian interment camp at Castle Mountain for a year before going overseas. He served in France with the rank of major. Duncan returned to Calgary at the end of the war and practiced law until his retirement in 1944. he lived at 822 Hillcrest Ave.
At some point he married May Fraser.
