Biography
Robert Slade was born on August 7, 1746 in Swansea, Bristol, Province of Massachusetts Bay , son of Samuel Slade (1721–~1765) and Marcy Buffum (1723–1797).
In 1765, his mother Mercy was appointed the guardian of the estate of Robert, who was above the age of 14.[1]
Robert (22) married Elizabeth Chase (21) (born on October 8, 1747 in Swansea, Massachusetts Bay; daughter of Ebenezer Chase and Sarah (Baker) Chase) on March 9, 1769.
Their son was Henry Slade (1774–1853).
In 1765, his father bequeathed the continued enslavement of a black woman named Phillis.[2]
Robert died on November 27, 1789 in Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, aged 43.
