Daniel Light (1791 - 1874)

Biography

Daniel was born to Jacob Light and Catherine (Harmon) Light. He was one of a large family, including:

• Susannah Light

• Catherine Light
• Samuel Light
• Jacob Light
• David Light
• Peter Light
• Benjamin Light

He married (1) Rebecca Lewis on 18 Dec 1812 in Clermont, Ohio.^[1] They had at least five children:^[2]

• George F Light - 1814–1889
• David Light - 1817–1851
• Eliza Jane S. Light - 1819–1901
• Catherine Light - 1821–1840
• Andrew C. Light - 1823–1853

Rebecca died in 1833.

In 1835, Daniel married (2) Cynthia Stewart.^[3] His third wife was Susannah Wood.^[4][5]

Daniel died in 1874 at the great age of 82 years.^[6]

Research Notes

• Data on his family from Bertha Light Minnick, copied by her from an old family Bible.

• OP Light papers. In 1966, my grandmother obtained from her sister O. P. Light's hand-written family records, which I copied and returned. These papers have since disappeared, probably thrown away by my great-aunt's daughters when she gave up housekeeping. These papers provided dates and several generations of the Light, Prather and Veach families. There was nothing on the Dickinsons but the name and dates of Harriet Dickinson. The Lights he listed are exactly as later research has proven his family to be.
