Narrative: Jeannie was a jewel, never married, something of a party girl in her earlier years. She was one of the first franchised used car dealers on the West Coast. Jeannie was into having fun, often had a playhouse in the country as a private get-away. She loved her nieces and nephews and was always spiriting them away for weekends in the country, or to our own family cabin on Camano Island in Puget Sound. After grandfather died, Jeannie always maintained a home for grandmother Edith (Stephen Charles Iman to John Clement, 31 Aug 1999).
Aunt Jeanne was gorgeous - dark haired with really strong eyebrows. She was a bit wild, even in her older years. She never married, but as I understand it she was engaged once and her fiance died. I particularly remember one December when I was ten or eleven. She drove up to our house in a white Cadillac convertible with the top down; it was snowing at the time. Us kids all piled in and went for a drive singing Christmas carols. She used to apply lipstick without looking in a mirror, a talent I have not been able to match (Susan Smith Newell to John Clement, 1 Sep 1999). [3] [4]
