Something wrong with RFD templates

edit

Hi, I am noticing today that when I use deletion request gadget, the request shown as something like "Template:Rfd links", and when I use bulk deletion request it shown as "Template:Rfd group/1". Does this have something to do with Wikidata? Or is it only a problem on my end? Yamato Shiya大和 士也 (TalkContribs) 12:57, 24 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Wikidata:Requests for deletions has gotten too long and MediaWiki has stopped expanding templates towards the end of it (the “NewPP limit report” comment in the HTML source includes “Post‐expand include size: 2097152/2097152 bytes”); some requests will have to be handled and archived to get the size back under control. Maybe you can combine some of your requests if they’re related? (E.g. Q139550250 and Q139550215 seem to be by the same user.) Lucas Werkmeister (WMDE) (talk) 13:35, 24 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Alright thank you. Yamato Shiya大和 士也 (TalkContribs) 13:37, 24 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
I have tried to optimize {{Rfd links}} and {{Rfd group}}, so that there is a little less text to be expanded/substituted. --Matěj Suchánek (talk) 10:08, 27 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Dataset import generates blank page

edit

After my last report the "Start data import" dialog can now be opened again. However, starting an import still does not work correctly.

When using the dataset name "dbaservices", no dataset page is created. Instead, I am only redirected to the non-existing page:

https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Dataset_Imports/dbaservices

No content is generated there.

However, when using random names such as "xc", a dataset import page is successfully created and prefilled:

https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Dataset_Imports/xc

This suggests there may still be an issue with dataset page creation or validation for certain dataset names. DBAservices (talk) 10:04, 12 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Structured Discussions topic deletion fails with PageAssertionException

edit

While trying to delete a Structured Discussions topic, I encountered an internal error instead of the topic being deleted.

Topic: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Topic:Vzhs9x498f5cm1xc

Error message: Internal error [f5c0af26-1d7f-405f-93dc-07af371bec1f] 2026-05-16 08:55:22: Fatal exception of type "MediaWiki\Page\PageAssertionException"

This appears to be a backend issue in Flow/Structured Discussions rather than a permission problem. Could someone please investigate? Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 09:41, 16 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

@ZI Jony: Filed at T426566; maybe you want to try deleting it via the API, using the parameters from the last bullet point at T426566#11929771 in Special:ApiSandbox? --Lucas Werkmeister (WMDE) (talk) 08:42, 18 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Lucas Werkmeister (WMDE), I attempted to delete the topic via the API (using the moderate-topic submodule) as suggested. However, the API request fails and returns a permissions error, despite me being logged in with my sysop account. It appears the PageAssertionException is also breaking Flow's ability to verify permissions for this specific topic, making it impossible for local admins to delete it, even via the API. Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 17:46, 18 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
@ZI Jony: I doubt the exception is interfering with the permission checking; I think it’s more likely that, as @Pppery says in T426566#11932004, the inability to delete topics is intentional (even if the exception isn’t). Lucas Werkmeister (WMDE) (talk) 09:46, 19 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Lucas Werkmeister (WMDE), IMO, you are right. However, there must be a way to process the delete action for flow! Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 10:11, 19 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Adding language title

edit

I am trying to add a language label to a page (like Q846951); but when I edit the page, I can add the default label and edit label, description, and alias in existing languages, but I can't add a new language. - Mike Rosoft (talk) 09:34, 19 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Try to add new languages using the labelLister gadget or create the user page here on Wikidata including the Babel template. --Wolverène (talk) 08:20, 20 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

error Incorrect or missing CAPTCHA on item creation page

edit

when i tried to tewiki artice title for creating item, it shows error Incorrect or missing CAPTCHA on https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Special:NewItem কল্কি (talk) 01:54, 20 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

I also have the same problem, it does not let me create a new article because of the problem of the Captcha that comes out in red writing preventing the creation, when until a few hours ago it worked. What happened, why it no longer works and if you can fix the problem, thank you. ~2026-30354-25 (talk) 02:29, 20 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
You can fix the problem that you don't know how to link Wiki articles if you can't create links to Wikidata. ~2026-30354-25 (talk) 06:20, 20 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
I did a quick test and seems like creation is failing for non-(auto)confirmed users. I am not sure why. (@কল্কি: which teWP article should be linked to Wikidata?) --Wolverène (talk) 08:10, 20 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
Tracked at T426829, relevant WMF people have been notified. --Lucas Werkmeister (WMDE) (talk) 09:29, 20 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

This should be resolved now, please let us know if you still encounter the same error. --Lucas Werkmeister (WMDE) (talk) 13:50, 20 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
