"Theyfabs always have the privilege of going back to womanhood"

Go on then, go back to manhood and get your privilege.

Ah, you can't? Presenting as male would be horrible for your mental health, and cis men would never accept you as one of their own because your gender transgressions are visible and mark you as an outsider?

Curious how this only happens to you and not to anyone else. /sarcastic

This is all because of radical feminism, btw.

It's easy for a radically feminist mind to incorporate the idea that a trans woman or a nonbinary person assigned male can be treated worse than a cis man, because cis women are treated worse than cis men.

But the same person cannot conceptualize that a trans man or a nonbinary person assigned female could be treated worse than a cis woman, because there's no social position below "woman" in radical feminism.

I don't even think they treat non binary people assigned male great either, like they'll say we're "transfeminised" but the moment we're something other than basically a trans woman, it's like we either don't exist or they get weirdly transmedicalist about it.

Too bad the prophet Cassandra never met Odysseus

They say if she made a prophecy Nobody would believe her

Iโ€™ve gotta say, that is exactly the kind of stupid thing that probably would circumvent a curse.

Cassandra: YOU ARE ALL GOING TO REGRET THIS SO MUCH YOU DONโ€™T EVEN KNOW.ย

Odysseus: Regret it why?

Cassandra: You wonโ€™t believe me if I tell you. If I prophecy, nobody believes me. That is my curse.

Odysseus: โ€ฆ Iโ€™m Nobody. Fill me in.ย

*A couple of months later*ย

Odysseus: HELLO PENELOPE, I AM HERE PRECISELY ON TIME AND NOT YEARS LATE incidentally I rescued and adopted a Trojan seer while I was away, sheโ€™s great, got me home really fast, Cassandra this is your new mother whoโ€™s not going to treat you like shit.ย

Penelope: โ€ฆ Iโ€™m going to need more details, but okay, sure.ย

Cassandra: *in tears* I love you, new family.ย

Cassandra: Penelope, Iโ€™ve had another vision.

Penelope, sighs: Go tell your father.

it's march 5th, which is dissociative identity awareness day!! i seldom talk about being plural on here, but i am, and i've had this comic idea for quite a while now... i have P-DID, which is a label under the OSDD umbrella that not many people know about! i think these little infographics can be helpful to anyone who might be questioning or newly-realizing/diagnosed as plural, i know talking to other systems was one of the things that helped me out the most when i was learning all this stuff about myself. hopefully it might help you, too- or maybe you'll just get to learn something new!

the colors here are from this flag, just with a few adjustments to make it work better for something like a comic. i'll also link my sources under the cut, for anyone interested in reading more!

Thatโ€™s Louis Rossman, a repair technician and YouTuber, who went viral recently for railing against Apple. Apple purposely charges a lot for repairs and you either have to pay up or buy a new device. Thatโ€™s because Apple withholds necessary tools and information from outside repair shops. And to think, we were just so close to change.

Reblog if you:

  • Have an iPhone and are in need of repairs
  • Have a friend with that problem
  • Hate Apple and are more than happy to spite them in some way

No one will know which is it

This guy inspired me to repair my own macbook. First of all, you should know that I am notโ€ฆ like, I have to look up HOW to look up what my computer specifications are. Tech, that ware either soft or hard, is not a subject in which I experience comfort or competence. But my puppy peed on my keyboard, and I asked the apple store, or the fucking mac cafe, or the godsdamn Computer House Chill Zone or whatever cute ass name they have for their bullshit store, and they said it would be TWELVE HUNDRED DOLLARS TO REPLACE MY KEYBOARD. Iโ€™m not even exaggerating.

So I asked the internet, well how hard IS it to repair? And I saw this guyโ€™s video, and while I am no techie, I AM fueled by spite, so I was allย โ€œoh, they do that shit on purpose specifically so they can charge me $1200 bucks or make me buy a new computer hunh? FUCK THEMโ€ and I bought all the tools I needed for about $25 and I bought all the parts I needed for about another $25 and I watched a few tutorial videos, and I replaced my own keyboard.

So, once you are doing the actual deed, it becomes pretty obvious that they are finding creative ways to make this much harder than it has to be on purpose. On thing that stood out to me is, instead of all the tiny screws being the same size, there are about two dozen very slightly different sizes. They could easily be all the same size, or like, two sizes at most, but no.

These mother fuckers will take a panel that screws into place and theyโ€™ll use a different size screw for each corner. They are so close that you almost cannot tell them apart visually, but they each will only screw into the matching corner. Like, itโ€™s a pretty clear โ€œfuck youโ€ to anyone trying to do repairs.

anyway, this guy is also fueled by spite, and doing holy work, and I have mad respect

This is awesome. Man is doing good ass deeds 24/7 because heโ€™s giving people control.

How dare you not leave a link to his channel, this guy is the savior of the modern world.

vittoria alla ribellione

Fuck Apple, Fuck every big tech company

I Fixit is actually how I repaired my dadโ€™s old iphone 12 and then claimed it as my own!

ifixit also makes kits and instruction for nearly every part for consoles, computers, phones, tablets, just about anything. Weโ€™ve replaced multiple parts on our old 3Dses at this point. Itโ€™s not nearly as hard as you might assume and very worth it to learn how to repair your own electronics.

I'm the only one allowed to have genuinely nuanced feelings about "we are the daughters of the witches you couldn't burn" because I actually watched my mother be persecuted relentlessly by my dad's side of the family for, among other things, being pagan. And I truly believe that the stress of that, including the stress of seeing me, her only child being used as a weapon in that persecution, contributed to her dying at fucking 29.

Me when I'm the genderfluid offspring of the witch you not only burned, but made me throw sticks on the pyre for because I was young enough to think I was just building a bonfire. But of course this site has already decided that pagans and witches don't face any social or systemic harm, so I don't even know why I'm talking about this.

OP I am so sorry, that is a nightmare. If this is an unwelcome addition please tell me to can it but also, yeah, the persecution of the New Age Travellers here in the UK in the back end of the 20th century, with the Battle of the Beanfield being one of the biggest touchstones and the biggest mass arrest in British history, was at least partially motivated by their following New Age (ie, pagan) religion; Their worship of pagan gods and their belief in magic and witchcraft was seen as a key thing that made them "dangerous", both a moral danger to young people, and as making them likely to be violent and/or sexually immoral.

It is/was a very real axis of persecution.

It is a welcome addition especially because I, a dumb american, had no idea any of this happened. New research topic unlocked, I guess.

I didn't bring this up in the OP because I wanted to focus more on the familial stuff that happened to her than the legal elements, but my mother also had her home searched by law enforcement at one point on suspicion of drug possession (theyyyyy found nothing, because she'd been off of drugs for a while by this point) and the pigs intentionally destroyed a lot of her religiously significant items while they were there. So I have no faith in the cops, any cops, to respect non-mainstream beliefs. Tl;dr, none of this surprises me.

When you said in your Katherine Hepburn post that you wonder how many transmasculine people kept their identities close to their chest to be the wife or mother that they were supposed to be, I always think of my neighbor.

I live in an extremely Mormon community in rural Northern Utah. I came out as a trans man as a teenager, about 10 years ago. My neighborโ€” someone who I had always known as a traditional Mormon woman in her early 40s, a devout housewife, a mother of several children, a valued community member from a very important family in our area (her brother is literally the mayor of our town), and at most SLIGHTLY more reclusive and quiet than most of the bigshots in our communityโ€” quietly told me on their front porch one evening that they have always seen themself as a man.

They wistfully told me about their college years, where they were involved in the lesbian community, before in their early 20s realizing that it was โ€œmoreโ€ than that. About how they only moved back home and got married after their college degree because the thought of being a disappointment to their family, and being disowned, felt impossible to cope with. So they got married to a man that they admit they donโ€™t feel any ounce of attraction towards, and had several kids, and theyโ€™re not quite the pride to their parents as their siblings (due to being slightly more reclusive, not really having friends to speak of that arenโ€™t just church ladies that they work with, and, admittedly, always seeming a bit depressed to me). They said that they were proud of me for doing what I needed to do, though, and they were happy that my family at least wasnโ€™t disowning me.

Nobody else in our community knows. Not their family, not their husband, not their kids, not the people they do church outreach with.

And whenever I read stories of forgotten trans men, I always think of them. Theyโ€™re still alive! Theyโ€™re still here! And nobody but me will probably ever know! And if I hadnโ€™t come out in this tiny little community, Iโ€™d never know either!

Idk. Sorry for the vent/rant. Thank you for listening. It crushes me to be the only one who knows them as a man, sometimes.

Thank you for sharing. These are the transmasculine stories we need to be telling more and louder.

Never not thinking about Lou Sullivan's mom, Nancy Louise Sullivan โ€” a homemaker in a devout Catholic family, raised 6 children in the 1940s-70s iirc. Never did transition, but was very supportive of Lou.

there are more trans men and transmasc folks who lived and died as women than the world will ever know about. i cannot tell you how many stories I've heard of people's mothers and grandmothers telling their trans kids and grandkids that they probably would have transitioned if it had been a real option for them when they were young, because there's so many that counting would be pointless. Not just to escape womanhood, but because they wanted more than anything to live how they felt comfortable without judgement from their friends and family. And because they knew they couldn't do that without being ostracized, they gave up and conformed to expectations as best as they were able to.

The sunk cost of life as a woman is the main thing that stops them from transitioning as adults. Marriage, kids, the exhausting process that is going through a second puberty, the expense and physical strain of something like surgery alongside having every choice they've ever made held against them. They know transitioning means their husbands will most likely abandon them, their kids most likely won't support them. Loss of friendships and the supportive spaces meant for women, despite having lived as a woman for decades. And most people can't take that kind of total societal rejection.

also want to add to this conversation that Matthew Shannon's study of the USTS data found "a negative association exists between income and MTFs who transitioned to female earlier, and FTMs who transitioned to male later," meaning trans men who come out later in life are more negatively economically affected that trans men who come out earlier in life.

and being a housewife in a conservative environment is pretty important here as well; both anon's Mormon friend and Lou's mother were in a culture where the pressure to be a wife and mother were very strong and the expectation to get married and have children as soon as possible is heavy. in many cases (historically in the US and historically and presently in other places) people classed as women were legally discriminated against in terms of having a bank account, getting a credit card, taking out loans, or even being able to travel without a male relative. and that last one also IMMENSELY limits the ability for transmasculine people in such regions to organize communally as well.

so a trans man in this environment is in a situation where he is the primary caretaker of a child if not multiple children as well as performing the duties of a wife, having little to no formal work experience (only years of unpaid domestic and reproductive labor #WAGESFORHOUSEWORK), is entirely dependent on his husband and community who will reject him, if not subject him to corrective/punitive violence, should he come out, not to mention the economic burden of divorce. and then either have his children taken away from him and told their mother is schizophrenic or possessed by demons, or try to raise his children on his own as a single parent?

its not a shocker that a lot of trans men simply choose not to. or don't figure its a choice at all; how many have been trained from childhood out of expecting autonomy over their life or body in the first place? that you put your husband and children and community and god before yourself and your selfish wants, especially when those wants are perceived as diseased and unnatural?

Ya know, sometimes I doubt myself about whether Iโ€™m on the right side, because I deeply care about women and trans people and feminism. And maybe Iโ€™m not doing a good job at acknowledging my male privilege or whatever.

And then I remember that an account (on twitter) that posts โ€œshould all afabs be raped?โ€ was explicitly marked green on Shinigami Eyes. And how a trans woman IN MY CITY was harassing a young indigenous tranmasc about being a fake transโ„ข๏ธ because he wasnโ€™t on T despite him saying when he first got on it he started LACTATING, so he decided to stop and get top surgery first. Not that itโ€™s fucking anyoneโ€™s business. So actually fuck all of you.

The woman who wrote the โ€œtransmanosphereโ€ essay is on twitter defending rape threats towards trans men. So no, Iโ€™m not going to listen to your โ€œfeministโ€ โ€œtheory.โ€ I kind of think youโ€™re not a feminist at all. I think youโ€™re only self interested and unprincipled.

Being ace and hot is a nightmare sometimes, I met this guy in my neighborhood, we live literally 200m away from each other, he's funny and witty and a genuine delight to talk to, and YESTERDAY he makes it clear he's flirting so now I'm trying to figure out how to turn him down and also throw my single friends at him because he really is a great catch, but I don't eat fish so he's wasted on me.

So now I have to figure out how to say 'I think, based on your tastes, I have some girlfriends you might like and they'd love to take you home, doggy walking same time next week?' in human speak.

Task failed abysmally, I'm having a threesome on Tuesday. My job is to look pretty and hand over the props.

That was fun, amd I learned some things about myself! Namely that I would make an excellent scantly-clad servant bowing to a sadistic evil queen. 10/10 would do it again.

Please stop reblogging this, if it ends up on Tiktok some teenybopper is gonna call me bad ace representation.
