silence in the room spoke high volumes — well besides the blasting audio from keonho's phone of a youtube video and the occasional murmurs from outside the bedroom from the other boys.
other than that, to you the room was annoyingly silent but heavily relaxing. the lamp was set to a yellow dim, the fan placed on the bedside table created a sound that could make you fall asleep within in seconds, and the warmth of the hoodie you borrowed from keonho made you have a feeling that isn't usually you.
your body was practically melted on his bed, the covers came on and off of you every few minutes. you kicked it dramatically with a heave of a sigh when it felt too hot, you grumpily sat up just to grab the blankets once again, falling back down onto the mattress dramatically — and keonho didn't budge nor complain the whole time, clearly engraved into his phone.

"Stop." Riki's monotone voice cuts through the comfortable silence in your bedroom and interrupts your prodding. He turns his head away and grabs your curious fingers that have been pushing up his lips.
"Ayeee, don't be a baby. I just wanna see." You say pulling your hand out of his gentle grasp so you can continue to attempt to pull at his upper lip.
He turns his head again.
You've been trying to get a look at his teeth, more importantly his fangs, for 30 minutes now. You'd caught him at his most vulnerable hour, when he's hungry. Riki is pretty good about regulating his hunger. He doesn't give into his most carnivorous desires, instead he's stocked up on blood bags. They're not the best thing in the world, but they do the job and they're pretty good at times. With the blood bags, he's tame– well, at least emotionally.

Pairing: woojin x reader
Summary: you’re oblivious to woojins flirty actions.
Requests are open!!
You have known Woojin long enough that being around him feels like breathing. Natural. Unforced. Easy in a way that does not make you overthink yourself. He calls you whenever something minor happens like he forgot his charger or burned his toast, and somehow that turns into an hour long conversation. You show up to practices sometimes with iced coffee for him because you know he forgets to eat when he is stressed. It has always been like that. Just you and him, orbiting each other without questioning it.
You are not part of his group. You are not an idol. You are just you. A normal person with your own school schedule, your own friends, your own life that does not revolve around choreography and comeback stages. But somehow, Woojin has woven you into his world so seamlessly that it feels like you belong there anyway.
The members notice.
They notice before you ever do.
It is late at the dorm when it finally becomes a full conversation. Practice ended hours ago, but no one went to sleep because they are too wired and too loud for their own good. Both Ryul and Ohyul are sprawled across the couch, Louis is digging through the fridge, and Woojin is sitting on the floor scrolling through his phone with a soft smile he thinks no one sees.
“What are you smiling at?” Ohyul asks.
Woojin shrugs. “Nothing.”
“Show us.”
“No.”
That makes it worse.
They practically tackle him for the phone, and even though he tries to hold it away, they already caught a glimpse of your name lighting up the screen.
“Bro,” Louis groans dramatically. “It is her again.”
“So?” Woojin says defensively, sitting up straighter.
“So you have been texting her for like two hours.”
“That is normal.”
“It is not normal,” Ryul cuts in. “You look like you just got proposed to every time she texts.”
Woojin tries to laugh it off, but he is blushing. Actually blushing. He rubs the back of his neck and avoids eye contact.
“Shut up.”
“You are so whipped,” Ohyul says, flopping back against the couch cushions. “It is painful to watch.”
Woojin throws a pillow at him. “I am not whipped.”
“You carried her bag last week.”
“She had too much stuff.”
“You left practice early to walk her to the bus stop.”
“It was dark.”
“You learned how to make that one dessert she likes even though you hate baking.”
He opens his mouth, then closes it again.
The room goes quiet for a second before Louis says, very calmly, “You are down bad.”
Woojin falls back against the wall with a groan, covering his face with his hands. “She does not even know.”
That gets their attention.
“What do you mean she does not know?”
“She thinks I am just being nice,” he mutters. “She thinks I am like this with everyone.”
The members stare at him like he just confessed something tragic.
“You are not like that with everyone,” Ryul says immediately.
“You glare at us if we take your food,” Ohyul adds.
“But if she wants it, you hand it over without a fight.”
Woojin does not argue.
Because he knows they are right.
The next day, you show up outside the company building with a small paper bag in your hands. You text him that you are there, and he comes running out like he has been waiting all afternoon. He is wearing a hoodie and a cap pulled low, but he still looks at you like you are the only thing in focus.
“You did not have to come,” he says, but he is already taking the bag from you.
“I was in the area,” you lie, even though you definitely were not.
He peeks inside and smiles when he sees his favorite snack. “You remembered.”
“Of course I did.”
There is something in his expression that makes your stomach flip for a second, but you ignore it. You always ignore it.
The dorm conversation continues that night.
“She came all the way here just to drop off snacks?” Louis asks.
Woojin nods, trying not to look smug.
“And you still have not told her?”
He hesitates. “It is complicated.”
“How?”
“She trusts me,” he says quietly. “What if I ruin that?”
They do not tease him then. For once, they actually understand.
Because the way he talks about you is not light. It is not casual. It is serious in a way that makes it obvious this is not just some passing crush.
Meanwhile, you are completely unaware.
You just think Woojin is attentive. You think he is thoughtful. You think he is protective because he has always been protective.
Like the time you nearly twisted your ankle stepping off a curb because you were distracted by your phone. He grabbed your wrist instantly, steadying you before you could stumble. His grip was firm, almost panicked.
“Can you not scare me like that?” he said under his breath.
“You are dramatic,” you teased.
He did not laugh.
Or the time you mentioned you had a stressful week and he showed up at your door with takeout and a movie already queued up. He pretended it was spontaneous, but you later realized he remembered you saying months ago that that specific movie made you feel better.
You chalk it up to him being sweet.
The members chalk it up to him being in love.
One evening, you are sitting in a quiet café with him. It is one of those places tucked into a side street where no one really pays attention. He has his cap low again, but you can still see the way his eyes soften when you talk.
“You look tired,” you tell him.
“Practice ran long.”
“You need to rest.”
He smiles faintly. “You sound like my manager.”
You reach across the table and push his coffee closer to him. “I just do not want you burning out.”
He looks at your hand for a second longer than necessary. Then he looks at you.
“Why do you care so much?” he asks quietly.
The question catches you off guard. “Because you are important to me.”
The air shifts.
You do not notice how his fingers tighten around his cup. You do not notice how he swallows before speaking.
“You are important to me too,” he says, and there is something heavier beneath it.
Later that night at the dorm, he cannot stop thinking about it.
“She said I am important to her,” he tells the members.
“And?”
“And nothing.”
“You are hopeless,” Ohyul says.
He knows.
Weeks pass like this. You leaning on him without realizing how much weight you are putting there. Him carrying it willingly.
The breaking point comes unexpectedly.
You are both walking back from a convenience store, plastic bags swinging between you. It is late, the streets quiet, and you are laughing about something stupid when a group of people passes too close, brushing against you harder than necessary.
Woojin’s hand immediately finds your arm, pulling you slightly behind him. His body shifts in front of yours without thinking. Protective. Automatic.
You blink up at him.
“I am fine,” you say.
“I know,” he replies, but he does not let go right away.
His hand lingers on your arm. Your heart stutters for a reason you cannot explain.
“Woojin,” you say slowly, “why do you always do that?”
“Do what?”
“Act like it is your job to protect me.”
He looks at you like you just asked something impossible.
“Because I care about you,” he says.
“I know that,” you respond. “But sometimes it feels like more than that.”
He freezes.
You feel it then. All the small moments rushing back at once. The late night calls. The way he memorizes your preferences. The way his members look at him whenever you are mentioned. The teasing you overheard once when you walked past the dorm door and heard someone say your name followed by the word whipped.
Your chest tightens.
“Do you like me?” you ask softly.
He exhales like he has been holding that breath for months.
“Yes.”
It is not dramatic. It is not loud. It is steady and honest and terrifying all at once.
You stare at him, searching his face for hesitation. There is none.
“For how long?” you whisper.
“A while.”
Your mind races through every memory. You feel stupid and warm and overwhelmed all at once.
“I am sorry,” you blurt out. “I did not realize.”
He gives you a small, almost fond smile. “I know.”
“Your members know, do they not?”
He laughs quietly. “They have known longer than you.”
That makes you laugh too, even though your heart is pounding.
“I am kind of oblivious,” you admit.
“Kind of?” he teases gently.
You shove his shoulder, but your hand does not drop right away. It rests there, feeling the steady warmth of him.
“And if I said I think I might like you too?” you ask.
His entire expression changes. Hope flickers across his face so fast it almost hurts to look at.
“Do not say that unless you mean it,” he says, voice softer now.
You swallow.
You think about how safe you feel with him. How you look for him in every room. How your first instinct when something good or bad happens is to tell him. How your chest feels tight right now, but not in a bad way.
“I mean it.”
For a second, neither of you move.
Then he steps closer, slow and careful, like he is giving you time to change your mind. You do not.
When he pulls you into a hug, it feels the same as always but different at the same time. Familiar, yet charged with something new.
“You really had no idea?” he murmurs into your hair.
“None,” you admit.
He laughs softly. “Unbelievable.”
Back at the dorm later, when he walks in with a dazed smile and does not even try to hide it, the members take one look at him and start cheering.
“You finally told her?”
He nods.
“And?”
He grins, unable to contain it. “She likes me too.”
They groan and clap and throw pillows at him, but they are smiling.
Because they knew.
They knew before you did.
And now, when you show up at the building or text him good morning or scold him for not sleeping enough, it feels different. Not heavier. Not complicated.
Just clearer.
You were never just friends orbiting each other.
You were always moving closer.
You just needed someone else to point it out first.
Woojin x reader
Summary: Best friends Woojin and you finally confess your feelings after his jealousy makes him realize he can’t hide his crush anymore.
Genre: fluff (Angst if you squint)
Requests are open!!
You’re sprawled across your bed with a highlighter in one hand and your phone in the other, staring at notes that suddenly look like they’re written in a different language. Every time you try to focus, your brain jumps to the exam date circled in angry red on your planner. The kind of red that feels like a threat.
Your screen lights up with a new message.
Woojin: you alive
You let out a laugh that sounds more like a sigh. Woojin’s been your person for as long as you can remember, the one who never makes you feel weird for being dramatic, the one who can tell you’re spiraling from one “lol” and a badly timed meme. You’ve been friends since you were little, the type of friendship your families joke about like it’s a permanent contract. When he started training and everything in his life got busier, it didn’t change the way he checked in. If anything, he got more protective, like he could’t stand the idea of you feeling alone.
You type back with your thumbs flying.
You: barely. bro im tired 😭 if i get nowhere with my studying are you willing to take care of me financially and mentally
You hit send before you can overthink it, because it’s clearly a joke. Obviously. You’re not asking your best friend, who also happens to be an idol, to adopt you like you’re a stressed out stray cat.
Except Woojin doesn’t respond with a laughing emoji. He doesn’t respond at all at first.
The typing bubble appears, disappears, then appears again.
Woojin: are you serious
You sit up a little, suddenly self aware, like you’ve accidentally said something too honest. You roll your eyes at yourself and type quickly.
You: LOL no im joking
You: unless…?
This time he replies so fast it’s like he was waiting.
Woojin: i mean
Woojin: yes
Woojin: obviously yes
Woojin: mentally for sure
Woojin: financially i have a budget but i could buy you food and stuff
Woojin: why are you that stressed
You blink at your phone. Your chest does that annoying thing where it feels warm for no reason, like your body is trying to embarrass you. He’s taking it seriously, but not in a weird way. More like he’s already sliding into problem solving mode, the way he does when you tell him you have a headache and he starts listing hydration tips like he’s a doctor.
You: i just feel behind and like everyone else gets it and i dont
You: and i keep rereading the same page and nothing sticks
You: so im becoming one with my bed
Woojin: dont do that
Woojin: text me a picture of what you’re studying
Woojin: we can do it together
You almost say no out of instinct. Woojin is busy. Woojin has schedules. Woojin has rehearsals and recordings and whatever mysterious idol stuff happens behind the scenes that fans never see. You’re just… you. A person with a messy room and a pile of flashcards and a stress headache.
But then you remember this is Woojin. The same Woojin who used to sit with you in elementary school and trade snacks so you’d both have the best parts of lunch. The same Woojin who walked you home after middle school even when it made him late to soccer practice. The same Woojin who, seven years ago, started acting a little different in ways you couldn’t name at the time, like he was always about to say something and then decided to swallow it.
You send him a picture of your notes.
Woojin: oh this unit
Woojin: ok listen
Woojin: we’re not panicking
Woojin: we’re gonna break it down
Woojin: call?
A call with Woojin while you’re in full academic disaster mode should feel humiliating. Instead, when his voice comes through your speaker a second later, you feel like someone just lowered the volume on the world.
“Okay,” he says, and you can hear the smile in his tone. “First of all, you’re not dumb. Second of all, you’re not alone. Third of all, if your brain is fried, we take a break.”
You flop back onto your bed, staring at the ceiling like it might have answers. “I don’t have time for breaks.”
“You do,” Woojin says immediately, like it’s not even a debate. “Your brain is not a machine. And even machines overheat. Also, you’re eating, right?”
You hesitate. That tells on you.
“Oh my god,” Woojin groans. “You didn’t eat.”
“I had a granola bar,” you protest, which is technically food if you don’t think too hard about it.
Woojin makes a sound like he’s offended on behalf of nutrition. “I’m going to teleport through the phone and drop a meal on your head.”
“That’s violence,” you say, but you’re smiling now, and your shoulders don’t feel as tight.
He talks you through the material like he’s done it a thousand times, patient but not condescending, making you repeat the main idea back to him in your own words until it actually sticks. Every now and then he cracks a joke, and you catch yourself laughing out loud even though you’re alone. When you mess up, he doesn’t sigh or act annoyed. He just says, “Okay, try again,” like failing once is the most normal thing in the world.
At some point, you realize your head doesn’t hurt as much.
At some point, you realize you’re not shaking your leg anymore.
When you finally finish a section, Woojin lets out a pleased little “see?” like he’s proud of you, and you hate how much that makes your heart do flips.
“Thank you,” you say, quieter than before.
“For what?” he asks.
“For… taking me seriously,” you admit, even though it makes you feel soft and embarrassing. “Even when I’m joking.”
There’s a pause, not awkward, just heavy in a way you can’t name.
“I always take you seriously,” Woojin says finally, and his voice is lower, calmer. “Especially you.”
You press your lips together, staring at your own notes like they’re suddenly fascinating. “You’re being weird.”
“I’m being accurate,” he corrects, like that’s the end of it.
You change the subject before your feelings start doing backflips in public. “Aren’t you supposed to be somewhere?”
Woojin sighs dramatically. “Yes. I have a handout event tomorrow with the guys. And rehearsal later. I’m calling you from the van right now.”
You sit up again. “Wait, you’re in the van?”
“Yeah,” he says, and you can hear movement in the background. Someone laughs. A door slides. “Don’t freak out. I’m fine. I wanted to make sure you were fine first.”
You swallow. “That’s… cute.”
“Don’t call me cute,” Woojin complains, but his voice is brighter. “It makes me look weak.”
“You are weak,” you say. “For me.”
He makes a noise like he’s trying not to laugh. “You’re so annoying.”
“You love it.”
He doesn’t deny it. “Go eat. And then text me when you’re done. We can do one more section later if you want.”
You do what he says, because you always do, and it’s weird how comforting that is.
The next day, you’re still stressed, but it’s a different kind of stress. The kind you can carry without collapsing. You show up to the handout event mostly because your friend begged you to come and promised it would be fun, and also because Woojin had texted you a simple: come if you can. i’ll feel better if i know you’re here.
You’re not front row screaming type of person. You’ve always supported Woojin in quieter ways, the kind he notices because he’s known you forever. But seeing him in the idol setting still hits you every time. The lights, the crowd, the staff moving like a perfectly rehearsed machine. Woojin in a neat outfit, hair styled, looking like he belongs on posters instead of being the same boy who used to share his hoodie with you when you forgot yours.
When you finally get close enough for him to see you, his eyes snap to your face instantly. It’s so fast it’s almost scary, like he has a built in radar just for you.
His expression changes. Not the practiced idol smile. Something real, something relieved.
He waves, small and quick, like he can’t make it obvious, but he can’t not do it either.
Your stomach flips. You wave back, equally subtle, like you’re playing a game only the two of you understand.
The rest of the group is there too, loud and playful, teasing fans and each other in the way idols do when they’re trying to keep the vibe light. You recognize Louis immediately, because Louis is impossible not to notice. He’s all bright energy and sharp jokes, and when he talks to you, it’s easy. Comfortable.
When your turn comes, you hand your gift to Woojin first. He leans forward slightly, eyes flicking over you like he’s checking if you slept, if you ate, if you’re okay. His smile is polite for the fans watching, but his gaze is intensely familiar.
“Studying?” he murmurs under his breath as he accepts the gift.
You nod, and his eyes soften. “Good.”
Then you move to the next member, and Louis is there, grinning like he’s about to start trouble.
“You’re Woojin’s bestie, right?” Louis says, voice loud enough for the moment to feel cheerful. “I’ve heard about you.”
You laugh. “All good things, I hope.”
“Depends,” Louis says, leaning in conspiratorially. “Is it true you’ve known him forever?”
“Pretty much,” you say. “He’s been annoying since day one.”
Louis gasps dramatically. “Wow. Brave. Saying that to his face.”
“It’s okay,” you say, and you don’t even think about it when you add, “I see him like a brother sometimes.”
Louis blinks, then bursts out laughing. “A brother? That’s crazy. He would hate that.”
You glance toward Woojin automatically, just a quick look.
Woojin is looking right back at you.
And the vibe is different.
His smile is still there, still idol perfect for the people around him, but his eyes look darker, sharper. Like he’s holding onto something. Like he’s trying not to show it.
You feel a jolt of confusion. What did you do?
Louis keeps talking, still friendly, still joking. “So you’re not here for me? Tragic.”
You roll your eyes. “Be serious.”
“I am serious,” Louis says, pressing a hand to his chest like he’s wounded. “I could treat you so well.”
“Relax,” you laugh. “Woojin would actually disown you.”
From behind Louis, you hear a quiet, dangerously calm voice.
“Louis.”
You freeze a little.
Louis turns with the slow dread of someone who knows they just stepped on a landmine. “Oh. Hey, Woojin.”
Woojin’s still smiling, but it’s not friendly. It’s the kind of smile that’s a warning disguised as a joke.
“Can I talk to her for a second?” Woojin asks, and it sounds polite, but there’s no room to say no.
Louis lifts his hands. “Sure, sure. Take her. I was just being charming.”
Woojin’s gaze doesn’t leave you. “I noticed.”
Louis mutters something under his breath and moves along, still laughing like he’s not a little scared.
Woojin steps slightly to the side, guiding you toward a less crowded corner near a staff barrier. It’s not fully private, but it’s quieter, and the air between you feels thicker than it should.
“What was that?” you ask, trying to keep it light, trying to match his idol energy.
Woojin’s eyes drop to your hands, then back to your face. His jaw looks tight.
“I don’t like it,” he says.
You blink. “You don’t like what?”
“The way he talks to you,” Woojin says, and now his voice is low enough that it’s just for you. “The way he looks at you like he’s allowed.”
You stare at him. “He was joking.”
“I know,” Woojin says, and the way he says it makes it sound like the problem is that Louis gets to joke at all. “I still don’t like it.”
You open your mouth, then close it again. Your brain scrambles for the normal explanation, the one that makes the most sense. “Are you being… protective?”
Woojin lets out a short breath, almost like a laugh with no humor. “Yeah. Protective.”
There’s a beat.
Then he adds, quieter, “And jealous.”
Your entire body goes still. “Jealous?”
Woojin’s eyes flick away for a second like he hates himself for saying it out loud. When he looks back, he looks serious in a way you don’t see often, not even when he’s tired or stressed.
“I’ve been trying to ignore it,” he admits. “I’ve been trying to be normal. Because we’ve been best friends forever, and I don’t want to mess that up. But then you’re standing there smiling at him, and he’s flirting, and you’re laughing, and I feel like I’m going insane.”
Your heart starts hammering. “Woojin…”
He swallows, Adam’s apple bobbing. “I know you said you see him like a brother. I know you don’t mean anything by it. But when you said that, I… I hated it.” His voice breaks just slightly on the next part, like it hurts. “Because I don’t want to be your brother.”
You stare at him like you’re waiting for the punchline, except his eyes don’t have any joke in them. He looks nervous, which is ridiculous, because Woojin performs in front of crowds like it’s nothing. But this is different. This is him, not idol Woojin. This is the boy who knows your favorite snack and the exact tone you use when you’re pretending you’re fine.
“I’ve liked you for years,” he says, and it comes out faster now, like he’s afraid he’ll lose the nerve. “Since we were kids, basically. I tried to tell myself it would go away. That I should be grateful we’re close at all. But it didn’t go away. And when you texted me yesterday about taking care of you, I know you were joking, but I…” He laughs once, short and shaky. “I wanted to say yes so badly it scared me.”
Your throat feels tight. “You did say yes.”
“I know,” he says, and his smile is tiny now, helpless. “Because I meant it.”
You don’t know what to do with your hands. You don’t know what to do with your face. All you know is that your chest feels too full, like you’re about to float away.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” you whisper.
Woojin looks at you like you’re the obvious answer. “Because I didn’t want to lose you.”
You shake your head slowly. “You wouldn’t lose me.”
“You don’t know that,” he says, and his voice is careful, like he’s holding something fragile. “What if you didn’t feel the same? What if it made things weird? What if you stopped coming around because you thought I was…” He trails off, frustrated with himself. “I’m an idiot. Forget it. I shouldn’t have said anything at an event. This is bad timing.”
“It’s not bad timing,” you say quickly, surprising yourself with how firm you sound. “You’re just… you’re you. And I’m me. And you’re my best friend.”
Woojin’s expression tightens like that sentence might be a knife.
You rush to fix it. “And I… I think I’ve been scared too.”
His eyes widen a little. “Scared?”
You nod, forcing yourself to breathe. “Because if we changed, it would be real. And if it was real, I could lose it.”
Woojin doesn’t move. He’s watching you like he’s afraid you’ll disappear if he blinks.
“So,” you say, voice trembling slightly, “if you’re asking me if I want you to take care of me mentally…”
Woojin’s lips part. “Yeah?”
“You already do,” you say softly. “You always have.”
His shoulders drop a fraction, like some weight just shifted.
“And financially,” you add, trying to lighten it before you cry in public, “you can start with buying me dinner after my exam.”
Woojin laughs, real this time, and the sound makes your whole body relax. “Deal. I can do that.”
You take a step closer, not touching, just closing the gap enough that it feels like a choice.
“And about Louis,” you say, glancing toward where he’s still interacting with fans, acting like he didn’t just get verbally threatened by Woojin’s jealousy.
Woojin’s jaw tightens again immediately. “Don’t.”
You laugh under your breath. “I meant… you don’t have to worry. He’s nice, but he’s not you.”
Woojin looks at you like he’s trying to memorize your face. “Say that again.”
You roll your eyes, but your smile is soft. “He’s not you.”
Woojin exhales like he’s been holding his breath for seven years. “Okay.”
There’s a moment where neither of you speak. The noise of the event fills the space around you, but inside this little bubble it feels quiet.
Woojin’s voice drops again, gentle now. “Can I… can I do something?”
“What?”
He hesitates. “Can I hold your hand? Just for a second. I know we’re here, and it’s not really… but I just want to know this is real.”
Your heart aches in the best way. You nod, and when his fingers wrap around yours, it’s warm and steady, like the world finally makes sense. He doesn’t squeeze too hard. He just holds on like he’s been waiting for permission his whole life.
Woojin looks down at your joined hands, then back up at you. His expression is softer than you’ve ever seen it in this setting, like the idol mask slipped and he doesn’t care who notices.
“After your exam,” he says quietly, “I’m taking you out. No studying. No stress. Just you and me.”
You smile, feeling your eyes burn a little. “Okay.”
“And tonight,” he adds, because he can’t help himself, “you ’re going to eat a real meal.”
You groan. “You’re impossible.”
Woojin’s grin turns bright, familiar. “You love it.”
You squeeze his hand once, and you mean it when you say, “Yeah. I do.”
When you walk away to let the line keep moving, Woojin watches you like he’s still not over the fact that you’re here, that you heard him, that you didn’t run. He looks lighter, like someone finally turned the air back on in his lungs.
Your phone buzzes the second you’re far enough that he can text without making it obvious.
Woojin: btw
Woojin: i’m still taking care of you mentally
Woojin: that part is non negotiable
You laugh out loud, earning a weird look from someone nearby.
You: ok boyfriend best friend idol woojin sir
You: buy me dinner after my exam or i’m suing
Woojin: lol
Woojin: deal
Woojin: and if you fail
Woojin: i’ll still take care of you
Woojin: but you won’t
Woojin: because you’re you
Your throat tightens again, but this time it’s not stress.
It’s relief.
It’s knowing you’re not doing it alone anymore, not really.
You tuck your phone away, your fingers still warm from his hand, and for the first time in days, the exam doesn’t feel like the end of the world. It just feels like one hard thing you’re going to get through.
And when you do, Woojin will be there, ready with food, jokes, and that steady kind of care he’s always given you.
Only now, it has a name.

The park always felt softer in the early evening.
The sky dipped into that lazy shade between gold and blue, where the sun hadn't fully given up but the streetlights were starting to think about it. The air smelled like grass and something sweet from the nearby convenience store.
Ohyul liked that time. Cause it meant fewer people. Fewer chances to be perceived.
He sat on the far end of a wooden bench, earbuds in, hoodie sleeves pulled over his hands even though it wasn't cold. He wasn't really listening to music. Just pretending to. It helped keep conversations away.
He told himself he came here to run. But he ended up sitting more than running. The hot weather doesn't hell with his
Footsteps approached fast. Light. Rhythmic. Confident. Well, he didn't look up at first.
Then someone dropped onto the bench beside him with a dramatic exhale. "Okay," The person beside him huffed, wiping sweat off. "Hell, I swear I was athletic in middle school."
He blinked and looked up naturally from the sound. And there you are, smiling. Already looking. At him.
He slowly pulled one earbud out. "…What?"
You laughed, bright and completely unbothered. "Nah. I said I used to be athletic. I think my stamina filed a complaint."
Oh. You weren't embarrassed nor shy.
You just… talked.
He nodded once, awkward. "Running is… hard."
You turned toward him fully, like he had just said something groundbreaking. "Right? Finally, someone understands me."
His fingers tightened around the edge of the bench.
You stuck out your hand. "I'm Y/N. You?"
He stared at your hand for a second too long before shaking it, gentle, like you might break. "Ohyul."
Your eyes widened slightly. "Oh? That's such a cool name." You said.
His brain short-circuited. No one had ever called his name cool before.
"You come here often?" You asked, swinging your legs slightly like the world belonged to you.
He nodded. "After school."
"Oh same!" You said instantly. "I just transferred schools recently, so I don't really know the good spots yet."
'Transferred.' He tried to imagine what school you might go to. Probably somewhere loud. Somewhere bright. Somewhere full of people who laughed like you did.
"That... school with the green uniforms?" You continued, gesturing vaguely down the road. "What is it called again…?"
His stomach dropped.
"…Haneul High."
You snapped your fingers. "Yes! Haneul High. I start there next week." You said.
He blinked slowly. "…I go there."
Then your face lit up like you had just won something. "No way." You smiled.
He nodded, trying not to look as startled as he felt.
You leaned closer, way too close for his comfort. "Wait. What grade?" "Second year."
Your mouth fell open, gasped loudly. "Me too."
Ohyul stared at you like the park had just shifted dimensions. Same grade. Same school.
Different planets, apparently.
"Wait," You leaned closer, squinting at him like you were solving a puzzle. "What class?"
"…2-3."
You gasped. "I'm 2-7!"
He exhaled quietly. Not the same classroom. Is it relief? Disappointment? He wasn't sure which one was heavier.
"Well," You grinned, bumping his shoulder again like you'd known him for years, "that just means we have to survive school separately and meet here after."
He nodded, pretending that idea didn’t make his chest feel strangely light.
────────────────────────
The next morning, Haneul High was its usual chaos of footsteps and locker doors.
Ohyul kept his head down like always.
Until he heard— "Ohyul!"
He physically flinched. No one ever called his name that loudly. As he turned around, you were jogging toward him in the hallway, waving like you were flagging down a taxi.
Half the corridor turned to look.
You skidded to a stop in front of him, hands on your knees as you tried to catch your breath. "Hey! Didn't expect to see you here." You said, eyes sparkling with mischief.
He blinked, fumbling with his backpack strap. "I… didn't expect—"
"You're always so serious, huh?" You teased, straightening up and brushing imaginary dust off your sleeves. "Relax a little. It's just school."
He wanted to tell you he wasn't good at 'relaxing', but the words got stuck somewhere between his brain and his throat.
"So," You continued, hopping from one foot to the other like it was completely normal to be this hyper in the middle of the hallway, "we don't share homeroom, but guess what? P.E. today. Together."
He froze again. "Together?"
"Yes!" You exclaimed, clapping your hands. "I checked the schedule. Destiny brought us here. Or at least the PE teacher did."
He let out a tiny, almost inaudible sigh, realizing the park encounter had followed him straight into the chaos of high school.
"Guess I'll see you in the gym then," You said, giving him a quick wink before bounding off toward your classroom, leaving him staring after you, caught somewhere between dread and anticipation.
────────────────────────
Wednesday arrived too fast.
The gym buzzed with noise, sneakers squeaking against polished floors. Ohyul stood near the back, hands in his pockets, already regretting existing.
Then you spotted him. Your face lit up like you had found your favorite person in a crowd. And you walked straight toward him.
You bounced on your toes, energy practically radiating off of you. "There you are! I was starting to think you'd ghost me!"
He barely lifted his head, cheeks heating. "I… didn't."
"Of course you didn't," You said, grinning. "I just like dramatic entrances, okay?" You nudged him lightly with your elbow, and he almost stumbled back. Almost.
The teacher blew the whistle. "Pair up, everyone!"
You looked at him with wide, sparkling eyes. "Guess what? We're partners."
He blinked, confused at your words. "We… are?"
"Yes!" You said, grabbing his wrist before he could step back. "No excuses. You're stuck with me."
His heart started hammering. "Stuck?"
"Yep. Stuck. Forever. Or at least until P.E. ends." You added with a dramatic sigh, clearly enjoying the fact that he was flustered.
────────────────────────
Well, it shifts pretty quickly.
A few days—maybe even a week—slipped by. You got busy with your new friends, laughing in the hallways, sharing snacks, gossiping about teachers, and navigating the chaos of high school life. The glow of the gym and your P.E. antics had faded into the background of your routine.
Ohyul just went with his usual life. Walking to the cafeteria alone. Walking back to his home alone. Playing P.E. alone. He can only watch you with your new friends from afar. He didn't think he deserved to even stand beside you.
────────────────────────
Then one afternoon, you just finished helping with a school event with others school involved. You were honestly so exhausted and even your extroversion battery has lowered.
So now, you were walking through the quieter side of the schoolyard, trying to avoid the after-school crowd. That's when you saw him.
Ohyul. Alone.
Sitting on the edge of the bleachers, hoodie pulled low over his eyes, fingers moving almost magically over a Rubik's Cube. He twisted and turned it with precision smooth, practiced motions and within seconds, it clicked into place. Then another scramble. Another solve.
You stopped, hidden behind a tree, watching him silently. The world seemed to shrink around him: no laughing friends, no yelling classmates, no P.E. chaos. Just Ohyul and his cube. Focused. Calm. Untouched by the noise of high school.
You couldn't help the small smile that spread across your face. You remembered the awkward, quiet boy at the park, the stiff kid in the hallways, and now… this. He had layers you hadn't seen before, hidden like a secret puzzle only the observant could notice.
"Wow…" You whispered under your breath, tilting your head. "He's… really good at that."
Something about seeing him here, so absorbed in something that wasn’t you, made your chest tighten. You weren’t sure if it was admiration… or the fact that you missed seeing him like before.
And then he looked up. Not at you specifically, just over the edge of the cube, but somehow, you knew he sensed someone's watching.
You didn't duck. Didn't even think about it. For some reason, you let yourself stay, letting him see you leaning against the tree, watching.
Ohyul's fingers paused mid-twist. His turned his head, eyes meeting yours through the shadow of his hoodie. For a long second, neither of you moved. The cube sat still in his hands, forgotten.
"You're… watching me." said finally, voice quiet but not unkind.
You blinked, a little caught off guard, but shrugged casually. "Yeah. You're… really good at that."
A small, almost shy smile tugged at the corner of his lips. "It's just a cube."
"Just a cube?" You repeated, tilting your head. "You make it look… magic."
He looked down at the cube, fidgeting with it in his hands, before glancing back at you. "Want me to... show you?"
You grinned excitedly. "Yeah. Definitely."
He shifted to make room beside him on the bleachers, and you sat down carefully, eyes wide as he explained his method. His fingers moved smoothly, almost hypnotically, and you leaned closer than necessary, fascinated.
"You are really good." You observed softly as the sounds of the cube twisted and turned.
"I… used to do this a lot. It's helps to increased my focus level." admitted, cheeks tinged pink.
"You make it look simple," You teased gently. "I would never be able to do this."
"Maybe I could teach you." He offered, voice low. Not quite shy, but hesitant. And you smiled, elbow brushing his as you reached for the cube. "I would like that."
He shifted slightly, angling the cube toward you, and you noticed how careful he was—like even a small movement might break some fragile rhythm.
"Here… start with this side." He said, guiding your fingers over the pieces. His hand barely touched yours, but enough to send a small spark through your arm. You felt yourself lean closer without realizing it.
"You make it look… easy." You murmured, watching him concentrate. His brow furrowed slightly, lips pressed in that way that made you want to laugh softly and kiss him on impulse—but you didn't. Obviously. You just watched.
"You just… focus, pay attention." He said quietly, eyes flicking up to meet yours for a split second before returning to the cube. "And… practice."
You mimicked his movements, fumbling a little. "Ugh... I'm hopeless." You admitted, laughing nervously as the cube twisted the wrong way.
"No." He corrected softly, lifting your hand and guiding it again. "You're… careful. That's different."
Your elbow bumped his again, this time on purpose, and he glanced at you, eyebrows slightly raised. "Careful… you're going to mess it up." He murmured, voice calm, measured.
You grinned, but it faded slightly as you leaned closer, whispering, "I can't help it… you're… kind of distracting." The words felt heavier coming out than you expected, and for a moment your usual energy dimmed, replaced by that quiet softness only he seemed to draw out.
He blinked, pause stretching longer than usual, before letting out a low, amused laugh. "Bold… not many people would admit that." He said softly, watching you with those careful, curious eyes.
You shrugged, a small smile tugging at your lips. "Guess I'm not most people." You said quietly, your voice almost drowned out by the faint echoes of the empty bleachers around you.
He shook his head slightly, a rare, small smile playing on his lips, and returned his focus to the cube but you could feel the warmth of his presence, steady and grounding, wrapping around the space between your hands.
Then he guided your hands once more, showing you a new trick, and you leaned a little closer again, laughing when it didn't go right.
For a while, you just sat there, him showing you moves, you watching and trying, laughing when you messed up, and the rest of the school faded away.
It was just… you, him, and a cube.
And somehow, that felt like enough.

You head up the stairs that led to the dorm room Louis has been staying at with the others. Just as you were about to text Louis that you were here, you suddenly hear a door open, which so happens to be the exact same door that Louis was already peeking out of.
You chuckle, already feeling that same feeling you always get when you're around Louis. “How’d you know I was here?” You ask, walking up to him. “Because you smell good, and this hallway never smells good,” he says with a soft smile. Usually he always smiles really brightly, but today he just seemed a bit off.
“Are you okay?” You ask, pulling down the hoodie he had on, just for the light to reveal his face looking more tired than ever. “Yeah, it’s just...it’s just stress.” He says as you pull him into a hug, wrapping your arms around his neck, having to go on your tippy toes since he was taller than you.
“It’s not you, though. Promise.” He says, wrapping his arms around you. You smile softly, pulling away from the hug gently. “Maybe this will cheer you up a bit.” You say, holding up a plastic bag, but it was pretty obvious that there were snacks in it. You saw Louis’ face brighten up a bit, pulling you back into a hug, except he started to lift you off the ground.
“Louis, put me down!” You say, laughing, as you hold onto him. You could hear Louis softly laughing at you, eventually putting you down. “Thank you,” Louis says, a little serious now. “For being here for me…and for buying my favorite snacks!” He says as he grabs the plastic bag from your hand. “Louis!” You say, groaning, as he was already inside the dorm, you chasing after him, shutting the door behind you.
“In his room,” Woojin says, ratting him out as you hear Louis yell at him from his room, “You’re so annoying!” You chuckle as you head towards Louis’ room, opening the door. You frown in confusion due to the lights being off, shutting the door behind you. “Louis—” You say, getting interrupted by a pair of hands grabbing you by your waist.
“Louis, why are the lights off?” You question feeling yourself being dragged away from the door. “Shh…” Louis says as you feel an arm drift away from your waist, suddenly seeing the nightlight lamps on the side of his bed turn on. “Okay, cuddle time.” Louis says as he lies on top of you with his arms still wrapped around your waist.
“Louis I thought you were hungry; that's why you ran with the snacks.” You say confused even though your hand instantly went to his hair. “That was just for show. The guys were already making fun of how “depressed” I was,” Louis muttered tiredly. “Besides, I hardly see you, and all I want to do right now is cuddle,” Louis said, lifting his hand up to find yours that was tangled in his hair. “Keep doing that,” he says, putting his hand back down. You chuckle as you do what he requested. “Okay, your majesty,” you jokingly say.
As much as you loved Louis, you yourself weren't tired, but Louis was already asleep half on top of you, so you couldn't really do anything without wanting to disturb him. You reached for your phone inside the pocket of your sweatpants, feeling Louis move a bit.
“Yes,” you silently whisper to yourself as you successfully grab your phone. You unlocked it and started scrolling through TikTok silently, not wanting to turn the volume up. Not even ten minutes later, you feel your phone being grabbed from your grip.
“Hey!” You say, lifting your head up, seeing Louis half awake, sitting up on his elbow with your phone in his hand. You suddenly see your phone being thrown somewhere else on the bed as Louis goes back to lying on top of you nonchalantly. “Louis!” You say, shocked a bit.
“I only want you to spend time with me,” Louis mutters, his voice sounding a bit raspy, as you then feel his arms wrap tighter around your waist, as if he never wanted to let go. You completely forget about your phone as you smile to yourself. “Fine,” you say, your hand instantly finding its way back to his hair.
