"average person interacts with 50 blogs in one doomscroll" statistic actually false. average person interacts with 4-5 blogs. Phone Addiction Georg, who is addicted to doomscrolling, is a statistical anomaly adn shouldn't have been counted

okay so the word Argos could be

Argōs: the somewhat regular noun Argī in the accusative (which is the accusative plural form because it's a plural noun (like tantum plurale or whatever))

in which case it would scan as a spondee, or

Argos: it could be the variant of the noun Argī, Argos, which has a short o in both the nominative of an accusative and only exists in the nominative and the accusative

in which case it would scan as a trochee

now that's not a problem except when scansion is in my finals and this could prevent me from getting into uni

just watch out for the syllable after it :D

its at the end of the line tho😭😭

(and if it weren't it would be long be position - the next word is tum - but my teacher marked it as a trochee and idk where he got that from! cuz sure its technically right but how are you meant to know!!!)

how can it be a trochee tho if there’s no vowel after it tho…?

whats the line you’re referring to

782 of aeneid book 10

wait does the like long-by-position thing applie across lines??? i thought if its at the end it doesn't like how theres usually not elisions across lines

im pretty sure a short vowel counts as long by position whenever the word isnt followed by a vowel, including when it's at the end of the verse and the same goes for elision

that definitely makes sense

cuz the gap btwn lines isn't that long/isnt there depending on the semantics ykk like if its all one sentence

ok i found it and like.

😭

where is that from omg

the latin library .com has

sternitur infelix alieno vulnere, caelumque

aspicit et dulcis moriens reminiscitur Argos

oh no Argos is on a different line just cuz screen size. the one that is on a different line is the final -que since it elides with aspicit

also, it's on la.wikisource.org :D

i have a print copy of it that takes from a bunch of 5th century mss and it has a commentary at the back both of which confirm the hypermetric elision. ill check out the wikisource one tho when im less eepy🧌🥺

i feel a real sense of aesthetic attraction to the man in the mirror. bro you dress so cool. how do i do that how do i be like you because im not like you in bot you im not you im not you

crazy how they gave child-rearing, a womb, and boobs to the same group of people. like ok i see fhe logic but in practice its too muchjhh . like they do allthat and we're js here. 😛"cant you jshold it in"👋
